Open up a lot of areas
I have discovered that (at least so far with easy and medium) if you click, in the beginning, on a place that opens up a lot of area….look for all the corners where the #1 has only one possibility. Then click around that area where all the other #1’s touch the bomb square. It seems to have a nice ripple effect. I have found that I still have to “guess” once in each game, so luck still has to be on your side that one time. I used to use that strategy when playing minesweeper on my computer. – Denise Meyer
Clear the numbered squares
I’ve been able to increase my average score consistently by avoiding clicking on squares that contain neither a mine (duh!) or a number! In other words, if you try to clear only the numbered squares you have a better chance of finding coloured neggs for bigger point bonuses. This is tricky, but with a little practice, it pays off! – jenielemenopi
A good strategy
First off, when you get a 1 when you click on a tile, it will be touching only ONE mine. That mine, if touched by a one, will be surrounded by ones

111
A 2 will be touching 2 mines, a three touching 3 mine, and so on and so forth until you get to 8 in which case that is the highest possible number and it will be surrounded by mines

Four free squares
I’m not sure if Neopets meant to do this, but they give you for free spots in any level of Neggsweeper. This is one of my favorite games (partly because I love Mine Sweeper) so I play it a lot. I have noticed that no matter what level of difficulty-the corner spots never have a red negg! So the first 4 moves should be the corner spots! You’ll get a number or an empty spot! This could help you keep from clicking on a bomb early in the game! – glik73
