Though my friends tried to convince me other wise, saying Neopets was a boring site, I created an account and wanted to try out the site.
I started exploring the site and began to really enjoy myself. I decided to get really involved with the community, exploring the world of Neopia, playing games and eventually creating a shop, leading to my obsession with earning Neopoints! After a few mishaps with random events, I learned to store all my neopoints into my bank account and all my items into my safety deposit box, eventually installing the PIN number on full security to insure my hard work wouldn’t go to waste.
I created goals for myself which made the site even more fun! I wanted to create a neohome and improve my pets fishing skills. I would selfishly place all of my neopoints into the bank and not even consider feeding them with even free items. I was obsessed with gaining more!
Unfortunately the fun and games had to end. Three of my neopets contracted neomonia. This was a real wake up call. I knew I couldn’t take advantage of their love and affection. I cured my pets and decided to give them the best from that moment on. I demolished my neohome in Neopets Central and built a new one in Faerieland.
The sickness my poor pets had to endure taught me an important lesson at a young age: Money isn’t everything. Being thankful for what you have is your first step towards happiness. Appreciating those around you is the next. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what your bank account says, but it does matter that you and loved ones are healthy. – nalanatinadala
