Faerie Bubbles Guide by Shoyru_Lover

Fans of the Bubble Bobble game will love this game. There is just something so simple yet satisfying about this game that makes it so cool! An added twist to this popular arcade game is the possibility of hitting off combinations – but I’m getting ahead of myself.

In a flipped Tetris-like game, you are in charge of a cannon, which is responsible for sorting out a plethora of colored blocks – what I shall refer to as ‘mess’. Angling your cannon with the left and right keys on your keyboard, the only way to get rid of this mess is to color coordinate your shots so that at least three of the same colored blocks are connected in some way. This results in these blocks disappearing from the game, which is good, as you want all the blocks to disappear. Once you have cleared all the bubbles, you will advance to the next level; however the less moves you complete each level in, the higher your score returns will be. This doesn’t mean to say that you can’t just go crazy every once in a while and fill up your screen full of colored bubbles just for fun! As a pre-warning, after a certain number of shots in each level, the top row of the bubbles will drop down and reveal an extra row of mess for you to clean up! What fun!

Now that you know you can clear bubbles with 3 of the same colors touching, did you also know that by connecting more than 3 same colored bubbles would result in a ‘special circumstance’? This twist on the game makes the game very interesting for players of the arcade game as it means you will have to devise an entire new strategy to playing this game. What do I mean? Not all effects of the color combinations are good. Read below to find out more.

The Effects of Color Combinations

  • Fire bubble combinations will result in any block within the combination to disappear. Note that water bubbles are resistant to fire bubbles and thus, cannot be destroyed by fire bubble combinations.
  • Water bubble combinations will result in every water bubble on the screen to disappear.
  • Light combination bubbles will result in all neighboring bubbles to a random color.
  • Playing an earth combination will result in an extra line of mess dropping from the ceiling. Bad!
  • Air bubbles are evil. Make an air bubble combination and you will find that any gap will be filled with random bubble colors.
  • Dark bubble combinations will result in no bubbles disappearing. Any bubble in the combination will convert to different random colors. Very bad!

This means that when playing color combinations – will you will ultimately have to do, you will have to seriously consider what options you have after this. Sometimes, a bad effect may not be so bad after all in the long run. Just play the game smart and you’ll see what I mean.

In the first level, you are aided by a line-of-site, which will help you angle your shots. After this level, the line-of-sight is no longer there so you will have to start to become very good at aiming your cannon if you wish to have a fighting chance at the High Score Tables (trophies!). Also be wary that there is no time limit, so there is no rush – one major difference from the arcade game. This should effectively mean that your mistakes should be cut down to a minimum if you do not rush. Don’t panic if you miss-shoot. Simply line up your next shots. Panicking will only result in mess overload, which is anything but good.

A handy tip is to watch your cannon closely, as it will tell you what your next bubble type will be – very handy for those close decisions. There will also be times when you will receive a nova bubble. These bubbles will destroy nearby bubbles it lands on, so use these bubbles wisely, as it can mean the difference between a high score, and a score, which is 1 point short of a high score. Remember, play wisely, play patiently, and play nice! – Shoyru_Lover
