Shootout Showdown Guide by Lucky_best

Arrow Keys = Move ball left and right.
Space Bar = Hold down to power the kick. (While holding the space bar you can aim the ball in different directions using the arrow keys.)

Out of the 4 games available in Altador Cup IV, Shootout Showdown is the simplest and quickest; but that is if you play it correctly. The aim of this showdown is to shoot the yooyu ball into the net and make a goal. Of course, there is the extreme jelly Chia frantically moving back and forth to trying to make it so you are not able to score the 5 goals you need to win.

The simplest method to use for this game is to move the ball to the left about 3 times and aim for the inside of the left pole of the goal. Make sure that it is the inside that you are aiming at, or the ball will bounce off the pole and come back at you (the game will go on as if the Chia blocked the kick). Paying attention to the position of the Chia – either left, middle, or right side – is a good idea so that when you shoot the ball he will not be near it to be able to block the kick. However, it can also be noted that if you aim for the inside of the pole, you will found that the Chia is unable to block in that small section, and so even if he is on the left side of the net, the ball will make it into the goal. (This could be because the Chia is moving too quickly and has already moved to the middle, or there is just a glitch where he cannot block that particular spot.)

So doing this 5 times should guarantee you a win!

It should be mentioned that there is what I like to call a “kick-o-meter” in the bottom left corner of the screen. This is to gauge the power behind your kick. The game’s instructions claims that the more power you give to each kick, the more points, you’ll receive, but that hint is not very helpful, almost worthless actually, because you’ll waste time charging the kick up which will subtract from the bonus you’ll receive at the end. Of course when you charge the kick up to its max potential, you’ll earn a fantasy “Gooallllll!!!” (or something to that extent) and colourful confetti rains down, but that does not really help your points awarded when the game is finished. So just holding down the spacebar to fill about 1/3 of the gauge is better, faster, and awards you a larger bonus for time at the end.

A Perfect Score!

A perfect score is very obtainable in this game and many players have reached it. In order to get your perfect score, you have to have perfect aim (meaning shooting the ball only 5 times and scoring each time) and finish in a certain amount of time. If you scored 5/5 times in less than 9 seconds (the timer cannot countdown to 00:51) then you will receive a perfect score of 1200 points.

Other Points Awarded

  • If you have perfect aim, but the countdown reaches 00:51, then you will receive 1189 points.
  • Perfect aim at 00:50 is 1175 points etc.
  • If one of your shots are blocked but you have excellent timing (00:51 is the fastest I’ve gotten when missing one ball) then you’ll receive 989.
  • One shot blocked at 00:50 is 975 points etc.

Note: It might be difficult to get the perfect score if you have a slow computer, so don’t become frustrated if you always aim correctly, but you can never finish in less than 9 seconds.

And that is the end of a long guild for a possible 8 second game.

Have fun kicking to your hearts content! – Lucky_best
