Neggsweeper Guide by genericchimera

Neggsweeper is one of the few (if the only) Neopets game with a cumulative score. You pay 30 NPs to start the game so have at least that amount on hand.

If youve played Minesweeper, than this game is identical. Clicking on a negg will reveal a number, an empty space or a red negg (Game Over, hombre). By the power of deductive reasoning, you should be able to find all the empty spaces and therefore avoid all the mines.

I assume that there are many starting points for Neggsweeper, but Ill start with the two main ones I can think of.

Clicking in the corner: My personal strategy. You have five possible outcomes.

Get a space: Lucky you! Youve just increased your score by quite a lot (possibly with a bonus) and are almost guaranteed to have a certain clear space somewhere in the revealed spaces. Quite likely to happen.

Get a one: Okay. You have more choices now click in another corner/somewhere untouched by the number hoping to get a space, or click somewhere around it for a 2/3 chance of getting another number.

Get a two: See get a one, but substitute 2/3 for 1/3.

Get a three: Dont click any neggs touching it. Dont. Each is a red negg.

Get a red negg: GAME OVER. Sorry.

Clicking anywhere.

Get a space: See get a space above.

Get a one: Now youve got better chances than the corner. 7/8 chance that by clicking around it youll get another number.

Get a two: Clicking around it will give you 6/8 chance.

Three: 5/8 chance.

Four: 1 /2 chance youll get a red negg. My advice would be to avoid that altogether. Leave it alone.

Five: Leave it the heck alone. 3/8 chance of getting a number is not worth it.

Six: Leave it the heck alone.

Seven: Leave it the HECK alone.

Eight: Is better than any number. DO NOT click around it, they are ALL mines.

Now, for neggs you know are mines (eights, space reveals a two on a side) you can press Ctrl and click to mark it flagged, and you wont be able to click it. This lowers your score, so avoid if at all possible.

These are the basics for Neggsweeper. The remaining stuff can only be found by trial and error like where there could not possibly be a red negg else the two numbers would be different. Happy Negg hunting! – genericchimera
