Everyday when I go onto Neopets, I go on the Help board to see if there is anyone I might be able to help. Almost everyday I see a board that says ‘Is this a scam?’ Now, if I go on that board, I am almost certain to find that no one at all has offered help to the poor person who started the board. No, instead, they are only saying things like: ‘Oh you are so gullible’, ‘You are scamming’ and ‘What a n00b’.
None of those comments are helping the person who started the board, and the reason they started the board was, like it or not, to get help. Maybe it is a bit gullible, falling for a scam, but we all make mistakes, and anyway, being gullible is no ones fault.
If I see someone being made fun of on the help board for those reasons, I just have to interfere. I can’t just sit there and let someone be bullied around by people who think they know everything. I tell all the people who are being mean to get lost, and get a life. Yes, sometimes I do get reported, but I’m willing to risk it for my fellow Neopians.
It says in the Wall of Shame that ‘Unfortunately, not everyone who visits Neopia is a nice person’, and that often shows in the way people are treated on the Neoboards. Innocent people, just wanting help, get bullied by know-alls, who really, don’t know that much.
Couldn’t we all do something to stop this? Would it be too hard for us to take a stand against this sort of abuse? Nothing the people say is reportable, but if they find they are being disliked for it, maybe eventually they would stop. I’m sure if everyone who reads this takes action – it doesn’t have to be so much you get reported though – then Neopia will be the friendly place it was always meant to be. – butter_fingers_emz
