In this game you play a cute, pink, pond Quiggle who really just wants to eat as though hes at a buffet. Theres plenty to chose from; lilies, three different types of flies, and bees. So, youre hungry, theres various things to eat, and youre abilities are few but there are some ways to get the best out of them.
Depending on what you chose to eat, the points you receive range from 1 to 20. Lilies are worth 1, the flies are 2, 5, or 10 depending on their size, and of course, there are the mean bees that are worth 20 points! These are the food you want to eat the most of.
Now that we are done discussing the value of the various foods, its on to your abilities. You have two basics; speed and the use of your tongue, which can go as far as it chooses. The downfall of your tongue is that until it gets back in your mouth, you cant move. But where there is a disadvantage, there is an advantage as well. Your tongue retracts back to you quickly. So the closer something is to you when your tongue touches it, the sooner it will be back in your mouth and the sooner you can lick again. So why not use this to your advantage?
When you start off with a new level, why not start by eating the lilies that are closest to you? This serves a few good purposes. First of all, they are close to you, so it wont take you long to eat up a good many of them, and they are all a point each so it is an easy way to gain some extra points. Secondly, when the flies get down closer to you, there wont be so many lilies in the way which help them to get to you faster since when they run into one, they just go to the next row down. So why not let them come down before you eat them? It will take much less time to get them all the closer they are to you. There is one other good reason to use this strategy; the bees come out about every 20 seconds. So while you are eating lilies and clearing the paths so that you can eat the flies when they get closer, you can take a break from the lilies every 20 seconds and grab a bee! The opportunity to eat more bees is greater when using this method then if you would just start eating the flies right away and ending the level.
These bees can be pretty tricky though. They have various methods of flying down to you. Some come straight down, some zigzag, some come diagonally down, and others methods just seem chaotic. The trick though is this: dont be afraid to be aggressive in your bee eating tactics. Dont let the bees come to you, go to them. Dont forget your other basic skill speed. Keep your eye on the yummy treat and become the hunter, not the prey.
So now that you have eaten a good many of the lilies closest to you and have gotten the chance to eat some bees, here are the flies! Finally the little guys make it down close to you and you can lick them up in seconds. Once they get down to about mid-screen, start eating! A good method to use is to position yourself underneath a lily where the flies are in between you and it. This way, if you miss a fly, your tongue will hit the lily and retract to you sooner than if your tongue went to the top of the screen, giving you the opportunity to re-lick quicker. If it gets to the point where there is a straggler left and he is pretty close to getting all the way down to you, dont hesitate to speed up and move after him should you miss him at first. Chances are you will be quick enough to reach him before he gets to the end of the screen and comes down another row closer.
There are only ten levels to this game, so you dont have many levels to gain lots of points, so this guide to playing is the best for making points, as the more time you take on one level, the more bees you will come across. The point ratio for this game is for every 100 points scored, you receive 100 neopoints! So scoring around 100 each level will give you a score of a thousand after level ten, which is the limit of how many neopoints you receive from one sent score. Just think, you only have to eat five bees to get 100, and thats not even including the lilies you eat and the flies! Also, if you make it through all 10 levels, you will get a 100 point bonus for completing the game!
