Mini guide
This is something I mostly use in one-player mode against the computer-controlled cars. Start a new game, clear the first round, but do NOT go on to the next round right away. Instead, hover your mouse pointer over “Start Next Round”, and you should see all four cars snap back into their starting positions. Now, go do something else for a minute or two, and wait a bit. On occasion, a power-up will appear somewhere on the field, and if you’re lucky, it’ll be a shield, a wrench, or an engine. If you’re VERY lucky, it’ll appear right in front of you, but even if it appears in front of another car, you can quite often pick it up before they even start moving (especially if it’s the red car that keeps backing into the barrier). – Becky Mahy
THE DOWNSIDE: There’s also a chance that a power-up will appear right on top of one of the other cars, and the tell-tale sound of the power ratchet will let you know that this has happened. It could be a shield, it could be an oil slick, but you might never know what they got until it’s too late. Also, if an oil slick or mine appears while you’re waiting for something good to pop up, it won’t go away until someone runs into it, because there only seems to be room for one power-up at a time on the playing field.
Going in circles
When you are playing bumper cars, if you take your car, drive it out to the middle, and just start turning in a circle, then when people try to hit you, they take about 20 or more damage, the most damage I have gotten like this is 5! You are sure to win! – Evelyn Brantley
Mini guide
In less than five words, I can give you one important tip when playing Bumper Cars: GO ALL OUT. First of all, when you start, just go straight, because the cars across from you have a tendency to just run into the walls during the first round. Secondly, try to AVOID the cans of oil or gasoline or whatever they are. They will only make you spin around and around and around and around until you eventually stop, hit a wall, and blow your engine. Thirdly, DON’T BUMP INTO CARS THAT ARE ALREADY NOT WORKING!! This is a total mistake, because it only hurts you since the other car cannot take any more damage. Fourth, always try to get any ‘power ups’ except for the oil. They all help, and if someone else has a shield, spend that time running away instead of trying to unsuccessfully hurt them. Finally, be the blue car if you’re playing alone! The controls are the easiest, and you will adjust to them quickly! – future_rock_star
Go for yellow
When you first start out with the game, you must go for yellow. Yellow is very easy. When you are chased by a car, and he is very close, make a sharp turn to the left, and even though you get hit, you get the points. When ever you see a power up, quickly get it. It depends on the item really. If there’s a gold engine floating, quickly get it. It’s hard to control, but you’ll get it. When you hit your target, you will usually get about 20 points, plus major damage to the target. If you find a silver engine, the points are usually 12. There is no regular engine icon. If you see a silver wrench, pick it up. It will heal your damaged car, which is about half of your hp. Gold, which is very rare to find, usually drains the whole colored bar into a blank bar. If you didn’t notice, after you complete the stage, the bar will be drained by about 3/4 of the bar. TIP: Always keep on moving, dodging, and smashing! – Ryan Bula
Survival is the key
When u get into the game, try to avoid the cars. When there is only one left besides u, bash it up. Do this to every level and u will have less damage to your car. You will also make it to the higher levels. – Jackie Young
Tricky levels
Bumper cars is a real fun game but sometimes (mainly at level 6,7,8 and so on) it gets a bit tricky. If your about to bump someone an there is a car that’s coming behind you get away from there! Because you’ll get squashed in-between the two cars and when you try to get you’ll find yourself get more damage done to you. Always try to get the shield cause its very helpful. – sweet_lil_piggy
Watching helps
When I play bumper cars I sometimes sit there and wait because most of the time the 3 computers will go against each other. When I’m sometime stuck in the middle I will back up and hit another car or just back up and watch the head on collision. As they game gets to higher levels you do more damage to yourself as your doing to them so be careful. – Teran Purtill
Mine tips
When a mine appears if you lure one of your opponents to it, you can get rid of the mine and feel safer and also do the damage to your opponent. If you wait a little bit at the beginning of the game and let they duel it out then it saves you from getting damaged too early and don’t get the gas can as it brings no help to you at all. – link_grimm
Driving backwards?
For one thing, never get up into a wall. And for the most important rule, which I play by, is to ALWAYS be moving. Before learning this, you must learn how to drive backwards. Your mind should be in great condition (for that it’s very hard to drive backwards), and you need to try to make up a plan (as you go along). – moo_poo323
Drive backwards if they have you in the front and back, just press ‘up’ and ‘down’ (the buttons) continuously. When there is a mine in the road, who said you had to go over it? I mean, drive around it , but in a sense, right on it (in other words, go in front of it. On the other side of the mine, opposite from the car chasing you). With this technique, you should be almost unbeatable, including the fact that when you start a new level, you gain some health.
The useful thing is, only get invincibility when you have low health. Because when you get it, and you hit cars, it doesn’t give you any points. : ( When another car gets it, run. Don’t go near them. Wrenches are good tools. Especially so are gray yellow circle engine. The fastest I have ever seen/gotten. These tips are helpful to the pros (me and other people), and they should be to you. : )
Did you get the gas power up?
When you get the gas power up by accident and don’t like it, just start spinning around in a circle. If cars will come after you., they will receive damage and you can keep on spinning and raking up the points! – IrishDragon951
Tips that won’t let you go wrong
– Don’t make the first move. Usually the computer opponents are content to chase after themselves for the first bit of a round, which saves you damage.
– It is better to get hit head on, than at the side. Too many hits to your side will damage the steering system and cause your car to always steer to one side.
– The higher the round, the more power everyone has; meaning every hit causes more damage. You also get less repairs done at the beginning of each round.
– When being chased, lead the chasing car away from the others, and away from a corner and then turn to one side. You’ll take him out and still be able to get a clean getaway, and not worry about a reflect hit from him. If you maneuver so that the car chasing you rebounds off another car, those two will usually go at it, leaving you with no worries about retribution.
– Always, ALWAYS get the wrenches that show up, even if the damage bar is at zero. You can get negative damage points. Meaning, that even if your damage bar shows you at zero, if you get a wrench (which would repair any damage you had, if you had any) would still take damage away, making it more hits before you would your car would take damage, and giving you a longer life. This can be a real lifesaver in later rounds, plus it prevents your opponents from getting repairs. – Lindsay Lovstrom
