A Drastic Mistake by inthemist22

I remember back when I was a Newbie. Though I may have changed my screen Name several times, I still love Neopets just as much as I once did four years ago, in 4th grade. I discovered Neopets through some of my buddies at school. I remember that they didn’t want me to join, because Id be copying them if I did. But once I took a look at the web site, I fell in love. Everything was so mystical and truly awesome. Though now Neopets isn’t as classic as it once was, it has its positives still. There are more varieties now then ever before. And despite the major lack of value now, I still enjoy all the fun games and funky Shops.

Well, over the years my friends and me have had our fair share of troubles when it came to Neopets as well. At one point I almost lost my Best friend because of it. You see one day, my Friend Cathy and I were online at my house. (We played Neopets for hours each time she came over), And when she went home that night, she forgot to sign out before she left. Now, to make things clear, I am not usually the type of person to spite my friends because I feel like it. But for some reason, some very odd reason deep inside of me, when I went on that computer later that evening, and saw all of her thousands of Neopoints at my mercy, I decided that I needed to take them from her. No matter what the cost

Yes, I know, true Friendship should be a lot more important to a person that some invisible cyber money. But at that moment all I saw was me and that screen. That screen taunting me about how I could never get that much Neopoints if my life depended on it. We’ll see about that! I thought to myself as I scrolled on through her accounts Neopoints and merchandise.

Well, as you can probably guess, I had a very fun yet evil time taking her Neopoints. And since my account was not activated (never got the activation code) I couldnt take her Neopoints straight off. I had to but Items with them, and then I would give them to my account, and on my account I would sell them for slightly more then their worth. And since I always had a problem keeping my Neopoints (I gambled in the game room a lot) I felt so proud, and yet slightly guilty, to see the large sum of Neopoints in my account.

The next time Cathy came over, she was in tears. She told me about how someone broke into account and robbed her. I felt as if I had killed someone, I had that much guilt. I didnt want to tell Cathy about how I had taken her Neopoints, so I tried to change the subject. But then she went over to the computer, and tried to sign on to her account so she could get her money back. But I had forgotten to sign out, and she saw the monstrous number of Neopets in my account, and quickly made the connection. HOW COULD YOU!!! she cried, I felt myself begin to shrink with the guilt of doing it, and the embarrassment of being caught. I tried to respond, but my throat was to dry to make out even the slightest sound. IM GOING HOME, AND WERE SO OVER! she screamed, as she picked up her cell-phone and called her dad to take her home.

After that, and even now, I feel horrible about taking Cathys Neopoints. And the saddest part was, that since my account wasnt activated, I couldnt give it back even. Those were the worst few weeks of my life after Cathy left. But finally we reasoned it all out, and I agreed to helping earn her Neopoints back, and giving her all of my accounts. It was harsh punishment I realize as I now look back, but it did teach me a lesson. I have worked tirelessly since then to make sure that Cathy is ok with what I did, and to keep my new accounts filled so that I wont take anyone elses Neopoints.

Oh yah, and I forgot to mention all the times my Friends and I cheated on the Neopets board games and lied about it. Then we always got in huge arguments over it and ended up with at least one person wounded. Oh yah, and the time Cathy stole my Neopets plushy and we stopped talking for a month and she got grounded all week. – inthemist22
