((Just a note before you continue reading… I am not familiar with all the names of the images in Kou-Jong, so I will describe them to the best of my ability. Hope this helps!))
Kou-Jong is a fairly simple game after lots of experience. I hope this guide can help you become a better Kou-Jong player, even if you have never played before.
First off, the rules. To win a stage in Kou-Jong, you must remove all the tiles by matching two at a time. (It is not necessary to know what the images on the tiles are, and none of them have special powers (like some of the tiles in destruct-o-match II)) To remove a tile, at least one of two sides (left + right sides) must be unblocked by another tile, and cannot be underneath another tile.
The most important thing to know, which confused me at first, is that there are eight tiles that do not have a identical match. There are two types of these tiles — landscapes and plants. You should know them before you play.
Landscapes
1. A beach setting with sand, a body of water, and what looks like a palm tree.
2. The brain tree
3. black mountains
4. Two pyramids and the sun
Plants
1. a white flower outlined in pink on green leaves
2. a stick of what looks like bamboo
3. a red flower with a long, green stem
4. a white five-pointed flower on a brown branch
All right. Now, to game play. First, you should start with easy mode. Even though it looks insulting to some people’s intelligence, it is a great confidence-builder for this game.
Even though matching these tiles up seems easy enough, when you get to medium + hard mode, there is more strategy to it than you think.
Start with the higher tiles!
Removing the tiles that are higher up than others helps in the long run. Getting rid of the top tiles allows more tiles to be shown, which means other tiles can be removed. There’s nothing worse than having a huge stack of tiles that can not be removed because the matches are underneath the other tiles, which causes you to restart.
Keep your eye on the bonus!
Kou-Jong is not timed, but the less time it takes you to clear the board, the more bonus you get. If you are going to play this game, make sure you have no other distractions that may take you away from the game and make you lose bonus points.
Be careful with hints
Hints are very helpful, but you only get three! If you are having trouble, first click a random tile on the board. If there are no more matches, a message will pop up telling you so. If that message does not appear, search for another 5-7 seconds for a match. If you cannot find one in that amount of time, then use a hint.
Don’t worry about resetting the stage
Resetting the stage will not take away from your total points, and if you used a hint on that level it will be given back to you. You may reset as many times as you’d like without losing anything.
Hope this helps. Happy game playing! ^-^
