Before we start label the board in your head. Across the top is A through J, and down is 1 through 10.

Your first move is to put your piece at 4D, which should be diagonal to the top left of the top piece you start off with.

Next, put one directly to the right of that one, at 5D.

Now, block the computers diagonal at the bottom, most likely at 4G.

Then block the diagonal at the top. Which will either be 8C or 9B

Now put one in 6D, so that you have three in a horizontal row, after that put one in 4F to make a diagonal line of three.

3. This is the normal pattern your opponent will choose.

4. Again this is a typical move. It may vary slightly. Just remember to not let him get five in a row.

5. If he goes here block between his pieces. *

6. This is an automatic win by now.

7. Continue your three in a row.

8. Make that four in a row.

9. We have a winner.

*6. This is a slight variation from before. Follow steps 1-4. Here he blocks your 3. However continue with the same pattern.

*7. Continue as follows.

*8. Block his move. He will block yours.

9. He will attempt to get 5 in a row. Be patient and continue the strategy.

Cellblock Winning Strategy by Garmy

When you win in Cellblock you get 4 times what you paid to play!! It’s quite easy money, and you can get a maximum of 5,000NP per day, more than the typical 3000NP for other games, so it’s good if you know how to win this, and hopefully this guide will help you to do just that!

Read the instructions to learn what means what and how to click where and all that. Basically you have to get 5 in a row before your opponent does to win.

This guide only works for Tournament 1-10, when the board starts with 4 pieces in the middle. After tournament 10, the rules are changed once again. I have not found a good strategy for those.
