A Purple Blumaroo

Purple is one of the many colours that users can paint their Neopets and Petpets. The Purple colour for Neopets was released on May 9, 2000. Users can change the colour of their Neopets to Purple by using a Purple Paint Brush item at the Rainbow Pool. In addition, the Lab Ray also has a random chance of turning the colour of a user's Neopet to Purple. Users also have the choice of changing their Neopet's colour to Purple when they complete a Fountain Faerie Quest. Lastly, a Neopet's colour can be changed to Purple by using an appropriate Morphing Potion.

The Purple colour for Petpets was released on November 14, 2001. Petpets can be painted Purple by using the Purple Petpet Paint Brush item at the Petpet Puddle. In addition, the Petpet Lab Ray also has a random chance of turning the colour of a user's Petpet to Purple.

Orange spots

An older version of the Purple Blumaroo that exhibits orange spots

To tie in with The Return of Dr. Sloth plot (originally scheduled for 2004), where a group of Purple Grundos has a rivalry with a group of Orange Grundos, all Purple pets had orange spots added to their design. The reason why was meant to be revealed in the plot, but it was shelved. When the plot was finally released in 2008, it did not explain the secret behind the spots, however on the 15 March 2008 when the plot concluded, the orange spots disappeared.

Today, Chias are the only Purple Neopet that still have orange spots, but many Purple Petpets, such as the Meekins and the Babaa, still have them.
