A Purple Blumaroo

Purple is one of the many colours that users can paint their Neopets and Petpets. The Purple colour for Neopets was released on May 9, 2000. Users can change the colour of their Neopets to Purple by using a Purple Paint Brush item at the Rainbow Pool. In addition, the Lab Ray also has a random chance of turning the colour of a user's Neopet to Purple. Users also have the choice of changing their Neopet's colour to Purple when they complete a Fountain Faerie Quest. Lastly, a Neopet's colour can be changed to Purple by using an appropriate Morphing Potion.

The Purple colour for Petpets was released on November 14, 2001. Petpets can be painted Purple by using the Purple Petpet Paint Brush item at the Petpet Puddle. In addition, the Petpet Lab Ray also has a random chance of turning the colour of a user's Petpet to Purple.

Orange Spots

An older version of the Purple Blumaroo that exhibits orange spots

When they were originally released, Purple pets had mysterious orange spots on their bodies. According to Adam, the origin and purpose of these orange spots were supposed to be revealed in the cancelled 2004 Return of Dr. Sloth plot. When the plot was re-written and released in 2009, it contained no mention of the orange spots. As such, the purpose of the orange spots remains a mystery to this day.

Today, Chias are the only Purple Neopet that still have orange spots. The orange spots were removed from all other Purple Neopets on March 15, 2008. Many Purple Petpets, such as the Meekins and the Babaa, still have orange spots, however.
