The Coincidence
The Coincidence is a space ship in orbit above Neopia. It is the home of Dr Landelbrot and the machine that creates Neopia's Random Events.
While it has been seen orbiting Neopia on the explore map for years, players were first able to visit it, and discover what it was, during the Moltara Mystery mini-plot in 2014. Since the conclusion of that event, players have been able to visit it once per day in order to complete a quest for Dr Landelbrot and receive a special random event.

Moltara Mystery[edit]

After players had opened the portal in Dr Landelbrot's lab in Moltara's Water Tower, they then had to bring various items to the ship in order to repair the Random Event machine housed there.
Daily[edit]
From 3 April 2014, users may visit the ship to receive an item fetch quest like the ones during the mini-plot. Dr Landelbrot asks the user to retrieve up to three copies each of three different items. Which items are requested are random, but drawn from a list designed to ask for low cost items.
Returning to the ship with the items, the user is allowed to press a button on the Random Event machine as a reward, generating one of several special random events. These may grant or deduct Neopoints or stats from the user's Neopet, destroy an item, or give the player five lottery tickets, a Petpet, a Petpetpet, or a trading card. There are also several random events that do nothing - several of them reference other Random Events or past plots (the Spooky Food Eating Contest, The Faeries' Ruin, and The Return of Dr Sloth).
The machine may also award an avatar the player does not yet have, including retired avatars.
