The Tyrannian Invasion
A plot showcasing the release of Tyrannia and promoting the newly developed Battledome, and the first war in which players themselves could fight for the safety of Neopia. Began March 20, 2001 and ended May 10, 2001.
The Plot
The Earthquake
An earthquake hit Terror Mountain and split open a chasm in the confines of the Ice Caves, opening up the way to Tyrannia, a prehistoric land.
The Invasion
War was officially declared on the 26th April 2001, following a boast that the Monoceraptor "will crush your puny Tyrannia!" which appeared to every member over the Battledome Events marquee the previous day.
A temporary army tent was set up to co-ordinate the Tyrannian defence, which used to be found here but has since been deleted.
The first wave, released on the 26th, was of Korbat Scouts, which looted and pillaged unsupported until the 2nd of May, when they were joined by the stronger Grarrl Troopers and Skeith Invaders. On the 3rd, a further wave of Chia Bombers, equipped with mud-slinging bazookas, entered the fray, and then on the 7th, Fire Grarrls joined the battle, and 10,000 of them were beaten by the time a 1,000 strong swarm of Tyrannian Buzzes joined them on the 8th. They were followed by 350 Grarrl Battlemasters, which turned the tide of the war in the Monoceraptor's favour. Finally, on the 10th, the Monoceraptor himself, a monochrome dinosaur of epic proportions, took to the battlefield.
Upon his defeat, a (as of yet) loose plot thread was revealed. A rasping voice filled Tyrannia, proclaiming "That puny creature of mine has failed...but Neopia has not yet seen the last of me...I will return...oh yes...I will return".

Prizes
The War Prizes were awarded on 11th May, 2001, with considerably less variety then that which would, in later wars, become the norm. Everybody who participated was rewarded with 10,000 NP, provided they had beaten at least one enemy. The owner of the neopet who first won against the Monoceraptor (who was only described as a "brave lupe") was awarded 1,000,000 NP and "an item of his choice".
Users were also given a Trophy on their User Lookup, showing how many battles they won and their title.

Trivia
- The war came out days after The Neopets Team introduced the One Player Battledome on the 20th April 2001, presumably to promote and test the new system.
- During the battle, so as to help with the war effort, Kauvara permanently halfed the prices of her Healing Potions.
- The One Player Battledome History was introduced as a result of this war, along with Neopet-specific abilities and the Battledome front page layout was updated to the current design.
