The Grarrl is a dinosaur-like Neopet that was among the original 14 Neopets available from the site's launch on 15 November 1999. They have an upright posture like earlier depictions of Tyrannosaurus Rex, which is now thought to have stood approximately parallel to the ground. Grarrls have voracious appetites and like Skeiths can eat any type of item, not just food. If a Grarrl goes hungry and its owner views the quick ref page, it may take an item from the owner's inventory to eat.

Grarrls enjoy wanton destruction and are as likely to tear up trees as to walk around them. They are known for their powerful bite and loud roars, which are how Grarrls hatch their eggs.

In the Neopets Trading Card Game, they are associated with the element of Dark.

Battledome

In the Battledome, Grarrls get a 20% natural resistance to Physical attacks. They also have six species abilities:

• Grarrl Roar - Attack: 2 x Earth; Defence: none; available from level 1;
• Grarrl Swing - Attack: 2 x Earth, 3 x Darkness; Defence: none; available from level 13;
• Grarrl Snap - Attack: 2 - 3 x Air, 1 - 3 x Physical; Defence: none; available from level 20;
• Grarrl Fire Breath - Attack: 2 - 3 x Fire, 2 - 4 x Light; Defence: none; available on Grarrl Day only;
• Grarrl Glare - Attack: none; Defence: up to 1 x Air, 2 x Earth, 5 x Physical, 1 x Water; available on Grarrl Day only;
• Grarrl Stomp - Attack: 2 x Earth; Defence: none; available Grarrl Day only.

There are also sixteen pieces of equipment that can only be used by a Grarrl.
