A Faerie Quest is a special Quest given by a random Random Event where a user is asked to help and and find a certain item for the Faerie. These quests are given out by Faeries.
When a user has a Faerie Quest, they are unable to use the Shop Wizard. Because of this rule many guilds and communities with the purpose of helping others find their items have been created, because while one user is unable to use the Shop Wizard, another can. There is also a Quests section in the Neoboards for this purpose as well. Users which help others this way are sometimes called Quest Partners, and they will search for the item on the Shop Wizard and either:
- Give the username of shop owners who sell the requested item to the user with the quest.
- Buy the item and put it up in the Trading Post for the user.
- Give the item freely to the user.
Quest Partners are usually two users who live in the same or similar time zones. It's against Neopets Terms and Conditions for one user to use a side account to find their quest item.
Upon returning with the specific item to the Faerie Quest HQ, the Faerie will reward a random Neopet of the users (said to be the most deserving of the gift by the faeries). All rewards raise the Neopets stats with the exception of the Earth Faerie and Fountain Faerie quests, which feeds your Neopet to "Bloated" (while also increasing it's weight) and gives a free pass to the Rainbow Fountain, respectively.
Because unlike other quests, such as the Esophagor's or Jhudora's, one cannot use the Shop Wizard while a quest is in progress there is no time limit for the user can get the item. However, as the Shop Wizard cannot be used, it can become a nusiance for people who use the Shop wizard alot.
Penalty
If a user does not wish to complete a quest, they can refuse it at the Faerie Quest HQ. Doing so will penalize the user from having another quest for ten minutes.
Faerie Quest Types
Each of the six Faeries asks for a random item of a certain type. Below is a list of each Faerie, what types of items they ask for, and which stat they improve.
- Fire Faerie: Asks for Clothes, raises Strength.
- Light Faerie: Asks for Collectable Cards, raises Level.
- Earth Faerie: Asks for Magic Items, feeds one pet, heals it to full Health and increases it's weight by 1 lb.
- Air Faerie: Asks for Grooming items, raises Speed.
- Dark Faerie: Asks for Toys, raises HP.
- Water Faerie: Asks for Books, raises Defence.
Three other faeries also ask for items on rare occasions. They are:
- Faerie Queen: Asks for random item, raises all stats.
- Space Faerie: Asks for random item, raises level by 4.
- Fountain Faerie: Asks for random item, gives one a single use of the Rainbow Fountain
Other Faeries Quests
While Jhudora and Illusen are Faeries who give quests, their quests aren't considered Faerie Quests and follow different rules than true Faerie Quests. Besides being a voluntary quest, they have a time limit of 16 minutes 40 seconds, the shop wizard can be used and their rewards are part of a fixed set of items. If you do a Jhudora quest you can't do an Illusen quest for 12 hours and vice-versa.
Taelia is another Faerie who gives quests but, again, they are timed, you are allowed to use the shop wizard, and she generally asks for more than one item. You may do up to 10 of Taelia's quests on any given day.
Advantages
Almost all Faerie Quests are beneficial, and considering the low price of certain items in quests, are much cheaper in training Neopets.
Disavantages
The Earth Faerie Quests are normally pointlessly expensive. The reward for completing her quests is full hit points and hunger, which is a low cost action on Neopets, while some of the Magic Items required for the quest are more expensive than it would be to feed or heal the Neopet on their own (although there are cheaper items asked for as well). Quests by Illusen and Jhudora are quite risky and possibly unprofitable, as both of them ask for very rare items on the higher levels.
Trivia
- In the earlier days of Neopets, Faerie Quests were given on request, but this system was replaced with the random event method, presumably because some users were abusing the privilege.
