Aww, that must be really scary. It would be for me at least. At least there wern't many people inside, that could have been a big disaster.

One of the counselors ended up in the hospital from the smoke...It's still burning, but they're getting it under control....

Yeah, I'd hate to think if school had been in session..

It's just so hard...MY entire life was based on that school, and then it was just torn away...I'm so utterly depressed.

I was just driving around your school I saw the smoke and everything! I'm glad that everyone was fine though ^_^ Hope you find a new school to go to before school starts again.

Oh, Requiem, that is so sad. I was an English major in college and, to me, books are sacred. My guess is that your school had insurance and will be able to replace them. But, still, to have such treasures go up in smoke saddens me.

But, oh, where will you go to school? I do hope that they find a place where your class can stay together--until a new school can be built. It is hard when a class has to break up and a few go to this school and a few to a different school.



I never thought of that before, shapu. Both my daughter's elementary school and her middle school have the servers right there in the library. I guess it is easy to shove them in a corner. I think that I will bring this up with the local school adminstration. Because it really doesn't make sense to put a server near ten thousand books, which are nothing more than kindling if you think about it.



Just because school is out does not mean that the administrative staff aren't in the school doing paperwork. In my daughter's school, all of the planning for the next school year goes on during the summer. So, the computer is used to order new books, create class lists, deal with budgets, order supplies. Only the students get to go home on the last day of school.

There are times in most people's lives when they wish to themselves that their school would just burn down or flood, but most people aren't ever serious about it.

Damn. Sorry to hear that I'm guessing that they might be able to clean up a lot of the mess, and put up demountable classrooms as a temporary fix. With the insurance and with community support, I reckon that this can be fixed up though.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope everyone that was injured in some way will be okay. And hopefully the majority of the books are spared.

Wow. That would really stink. I would hate it if all my schools books were destroyed. My library had a ton of books burnt by some idiot venting his rage. Nearly everything in that area of the library was destroyed, including all but one of their books by Raymond Smullyan! Grrrrrrr.

Computers can catch fire on their own, and there's a lot of plastic in them. When they burn, it makes this awful thick, black, smoke that can make it impossible to see anything, including the source of the fire. And servers are big, so there you go.

...That's just awful. It must be really difficult for the teachers and students. A lot of memories were in that building, I'm sure.
I hope things work out and you get a nice place to go to school next year. At least no one was hurt! And I'm sure the school will get some new books.
