Congrats to all Haunted Woods team mates!. Good job, Darigan. You were some competition. :)

YES, Haunted Woods won! After having our teams eliminated twice - because of no fault of ours, I assure you - we were finally on the winning side when it counted most. Almost makes this horrible horrible event worth it...but not quite. ;)

But wait, there's more?!?! :o

Stop milking this crummy game, Neopets. I've had all I can stands and I can't stands no more.

I went to the Cup Neoboards to tell everyone to chill out because there were some sore winners, sore losers, crybabies, and people just getting way too emotional about a computer game. I wrote a very elegaic post, as follows:
It's just a game, ladies and gents. If you didn't win, that's okay! You won't lose a job, get a bad grade, not get into college, or not get a car if you sided with Darigan. So CHILL OUT, this game has nothing to do with real life. It's just a diversion and some of y'all are taking it WAY too seriously. And that's just my 2 cents, but I know some folks agree with me.

It was booted from the first page within a minute. A MINUTE! So many people are kvetching about this game that my reality check was gone in sixty seconds (not like that movie, though). It was a terrifying experience.

I was on Haunted Woods, too, but I didn't participate because I hated the game mechanics. I don't care if I get a trophy or not because it really doesn't matter in the long run, either. 8)

UPDATE: The repost (five minutes later) was booted from the first page in five seconds. I wish I were kidding. There's some SAD folks on the Cup Neoboard right now. It should be declared a disaster area.

I think it's because some people have devoted so much of their time on this game, they can't help but get a little personally attached. Twenty hours spent over four weeks is not unheard of. It's easier for people who didn't spend that much time on it to simply say "aw, forget it".

Thu Jul 06, 2006 2:44 am

True...as I said, no participation at all on my part, but I still don't understand it. That is quite a lot of work put in, but it still seems odd to me that they would get that out of shape about a computer game. Maybe I just don't understand it and won't understand it.

I'm a bit mad at myself for not going with the Haunted Woods since the beginning, I like the player art more than any other team, but I'm so happy I finally won something. I ended up with 509-0-0 because I forgot to play my 510th game and spent those 3 minutes brushing my teeth instead. Honestly though, I'd only be upset if we had lost and my personal score didn't count towards my prize.

People just need to vent their frustrations sometimes. It'll die down on its own like yesterday's news. Look away for a few days.

Thank gawd the Altador Cup is over.
And holy crap, I'm proud of myself for picking the Haunted Woods in round one! :roflol: For once I actually pick the right team or order of something.

I doubt i'll win much from this because I was in the process of moving. But I did side with Haunted Woods for the final game, and won 13.

Haha.. Oh well, at least I tried.

Good job everyone!

meh, I hardly had time to play more than 4 games for the final round! I knew I shouldn't have picked Darigan, that was the team my second pick Krawk Island lost to.
I wonder what the runner-up prizes will be?
And incidentally, I wonder if they'll also give out the Altador plot prizes soon once everyone gets over this whole Cup deal and realizes those haven't been awarded yet either.

Your avatar makes for a great visual image of the Altador Cub board, IMHO. :P

Ill admit that I expected Darigan to take it. With how well they did the whole time despite the beginning where they seemed to have so many hanger-onners, and then with the highest scoring round winners always dropping off in the next round, the HW vistory surprised me. Im almost glad my other top 4 choices were eliminated in the first round leaving me to choose the Haunted Woods. Its a shame I fell asleep the night of the fourth and couldnt participate as much as I wanted :(

I was so terrible at this game. I did play a few games but I have to confess that, not only did I not win any games, but I couldn't score a single point. My biggest fear is that the prizes will be combined with the plot prizes so that to get a good prize you needed to do well on both. I did complete the plot but was terrible at the game.

I quit. Ive waisted a chunk of my life doing this. Think of all the things you could be doing outside or with a friend or doing something better with your life in that ammount of time... instead you played the same little virtual game getting a ball in a goal made of pixels... im sickened by myself. Post your total hours.... its gross.. isnt it?

Not really - most of my games are played at night, when I would only be watching tv.

The most I spent at any one time at the game is 2 hours. All the other games where spread out through the day - play for 1/2 hour then do something else.

Agreed - excpet I don't have the patience for a whole two hours to play nothing but the game. ;)
And watching TV, I wouldn't even be paying attention. I'd get more from playing this game for an hour than watching a movie I've seen twice already. In fact, the only things I ever actually 'watch' are Rove Live and any episode of the Simpsons I haven't seen before.
And also, the weather's real bad out. I mean, REAL bad, it's a winter storm. My friends are all busy anyway. It's a nice thing to do after a day of work, compared to vegging out on the couch.
On the other hand, there was a netcut last night. AND a saturn station cut. So what was there to do? Well... I took a shower and 'watched' a TV show we'd had on tape.

What does get to me, though - the netcut. Not a powercut, just a net cut (and saturn cut). The last day to earn points for the altador cup! I guess those last few points we needed were due to the Haunted Woods team sabotaging our Darigan Citadel connections. ;)

As long as you pressed spacebar to skip the Yooyu's spinning animation, each game took less than 3 minutes. Not by much, but still.

If I had only known that, it would have saved me a LOT of time and a LOT of movie glitchiness. x.x

Lord... I'm kinda sad that we lost, but hey, it was a good game while it lasted. ;) Next time it's Darigan Citadel from the start - and there'll be no sabotaging! Heeh. Sigh.

I'm waiting on two trophies and prize sets, now - so hurry up TNT! Prizes before the next plot, please. They better be gold, too. :P

The bad thing about this Cup is that a single win didn't mean anything. So the only thing your feel like your accomplish after you win 100+ games that you actually played a game that many times. I was on Haunted Woods since Round 3 after both Altador and Brightvale lost so I'm happy. I only won 158 games but that's okay because that's a lot better than any of my war trophies.

I thought all in all the Cup was fun at times but I hope we won't do it again for another 1 or 2 years from now xP
