If everyone who got a fountain faerie quest could get one if they so desired, it wouldn't be as cherished.
Seriously... there is a great percentage of people out there who have never, and may never, even get a FFQ. And if they get one, they may not be able to afford it.
Someone earlier said something about a lucky New Member being able to do a FFQ, and yes I know every once in a while the 7.5k items come up, but for the most part, no New Member is going to be able to afford a FFQ item. And frankly, I bet half the true newbs out there wouldn't understand the importance of a FFQ and would say they didn't want to do it.
I have been playing neopets for 4 years; I have been on here as long as FFQ's have existed, and I have never gotten one.
So I think the likelihood of something being less cherished because .0001 % of the population could have it instead of just .000001%.... is pretty slim. There are still going to be literally MILLIONS of people out there that can't get their hands on it, and it will still be rare.
A couple other notes:
*I don't even
like the royal ppbs... if it is a royal humanlike person it's not really much of a
pet, is it?
*Not all pets can be painted royal and not everyone who does a FFQ can afford to morph to the species they want.
*I can understand the role-playing attitude of wanting it to be exclusive, but it makes WAY more sense to have it be exclusive by way of getting knighted or something, whether that means by participating in a war, or having a certain number of trophies, or whatever, that makes sense. But as for the amount of money you have earned, determining your social status?
There is a word for that... New Money.
Anybody can win the jackpot on the slots or play games for 8 months straight. Those who achieve their status the old-fashioned way (through inheritance or earning it via getting knighted) look down on New Money.
