Well, some colors like Royal and Robot I would like to see at the fountain faerie.

But as for colors like MSPP? NO. Those are rare for a reason. If everyone who got a fountain faerie quest could get one if they so desired, it wouldn't be as cherished. If you're labbing for one, when the work finally (if ever XD) pays off, there you go. But I believe that should be the only way to get one of those.

I'll agree on the 'playing for years and no quest yet' bit. I still haven't gotten one. In fact, my Lupe and Kougra are still painted from when the Rainbow Fountain was a sponser thing and you had to sign up for offers... XD;

Seriously... there is a great percentage of people out there who have never, and may never, even get a FFQ. And if they get one, they may not be able to afford it.

Someone earlier said something about a lucky New Member being able to do a FFQ, and yes I know every once in a while the 7.5k items come up, but for the most part, no New Member is going to be able to afford a FFQ item. And frankly, I bet half the true newbs out there wouldn't understand the importance of a FFQ and would say they didn't want to do it.

I have been playing neopets for 4 years; I have been on here as long as FFQ's have existed, and I have never gotten one.

So I think the likelihood of something being less cherished because .0001 % of the population could have it instead of just .000001%.... is pretty slim. There are still going to be literally MILLIONS of people out there that can't get their hands on it, and it will still be rare.

A couple other notes:
*I don't even like the royal ppbs... if it is a royal humanlike person it's not really much of a pet, is it?

*Not all pets can be painted royal and not everyone who does a FFQ can afford to morph to the species they want.

*I can understand the role-playing attitude of wanting it to be exclusive, but it makes WAY more sense to have it be exclusive by way of getting knighted or something, whether that means by participating in a war, or having a certain number of trophies, or whatever, that makes sense. But as for the amount of money you have earned, determining your social status?

There is a word for that... New Money. Anybody can win the jackpot on the slots or play games for 8 months straight. Those who achieve their status the old-fashioned way (through inheritance or earning it via getting knighted) look down on New Money.

A knighthood. I dub you, sir... er, by the way, what title would you like?

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me, it's definitely not that. I actually hate Royal pets, with very few exceptions (the flotsams and the kougras and the male uni are all I can come up with off the top of my head). My pets are pets, not anthropomorphic animals. I really like most Darigan pets, but the color doesn't suit any of my own, so I don't have any of those either. And I still think those colors should be available only from the HT. The very fact that the pbs can be bought, at any time, from a specific location already makes them easier to get than grey or Maraquan or plushie or faerie. Yes, you have to save up for the pbs, but 1.75 million really isn't THAT much when you can make more than 10k a day from a few sponsor games alone. If someone really wants to paint their pet a specific "special" color, they should work and save up for it. Then it will be even more special, not just to onlookers, but to the owner as well.

However, I don't agree that an account should be a specific age to own a Royal pet. The whole thing where people under 4 months can't adopt special pets from the pound is enough.

I'm going to chime in here and say that the argument that says "royal pets should be gained by royal means (aka the royal paint brush)" is stupid. The RPB is cheaper than some of the brushes that are available via the rainbow pool so I don't see why it isn't available by the rainbow pool as well.

I think maybe it wasn't the best choice in the first place, but now that it's this way, they shouldn't change it. Like, imagine if you got a FFQ, saw that you couldn't paint your pet Royal, grumbled awhile and then went with another color, and stared in horror as they made Royal available. I would be (pardon the pun) royally smurf.
As it is, I think Royal does go above and beyond all other colors as the most elite multipet color. Robot's almost as elite, but there's also the element of chance involved.
