I've been following this thread from the beginning and read every post. But there is still something that no one has mentioned, so it may not mean anything, but then again it might.
If you look at the images on the ceiling of the Hall of Heroes, they're imagemaps. Right now there don't seem to be any clickable areas on them but there may be in the future.
If the jewels turn out to represent constellations, then perhaps we'll have to click on the proper ones to progress in the plot.
If you look at the source code for the ceiling pages, there is a polygon defined for each. Anyone with a graphics program and the inclination can tell us where the clickable areas will be.
A question - does anyone have any theories as to why the ceiling has two shades of beige? Or the floor, for that matter. It doesn't seem to be shadows or a symmetrical pattern.
[An easy way to tell if an image is clickable in IE: For regular images, when you place your cursor over it, a toolbar will pop up to save the image, print it, email it, etc. If not, it could be a shockwave object or an imagemap. If you right-click and don't get the shockwave menu, it's most likely an imagemap.]
I traced the coordinates of the link on the constellation image maps, and right now there's only a link back to the statue.
