Well it was originally named Talador, so...

My statue is Siyana, the first to rise. That's irony... I work nights, so I'm usually the last to rise!

But Neopets changed the name for a reason, and it's officially known as Altador. So perhaps they changed it to Altador to fit the story better and maybe I'm on to something.

Or maybe I'm just coming up with crazy connections. Who knows! The point is, we must hypothesize and try to figure things out. So I repeat myself, since my post was at the bottom of the first page and I'm not sure if anyone else caught it:

"I've seen it mentioned a few times about the statue at the bottom of Maraqua. ( http://www.neopets.com/water/statue.phtml )

If I recall correctly, it's been sitting there for a long time. (It was added by TNT probably about six months ago or so.) What I'm wondering, what is the connection between the ruins of Maraqua and the discovery of Altador?

Altador seems to derive the "Alt-" beginning from altitude, referring to the height. To get there you have to go to Faerieland anyway, which is in the sky, and in a high tower. The statue is, however, at the bottom of the ocean floor in the Maraquan ruins-- quite the opposite of the location of the portal to Altador.

So... wouldn't it be interesting to ponder that, if that statue is originally from Altador, how it got to the bottom of the sea in Maraquan ruins?"

I really like your thinking , they are kind of similar and it must have something to do with the plot , maybe an outcasted member , one of the 12 or 13 that were missing

maybe they wanted to get her as far away from them as they possibly could. From above sea level to below. Also, I wonder if she is linked to the whole maraqua sinking thing.

She could have been banished, thrown into the depths were they knew she wouldn't be able to leave and get back to them again...the only question is what she did the deserve this punishment...

This might have been explained in the video game, but I haven't played it.
Unless I miss my mark, this is all happening after the video game. A summary of the game's plot would be helpful.
Wikipedia has a page on the game, but no plot summary.

This wikipedia page has some spoilers for the Neopets Darkest Faerie video game (like characters and things). Don't go to it if you don't want some non-plot stuff spoiled.

Ya'll, just to clear some things up: The statue is the Darkest Faerie, or the sleeper, who was banished from Altador when she tried to take it over. Fyora needed to user her rod/wand(can't remember which) to turn her to stone, which sent her plummeting down, and into the sea. TDF tried to destroy Altador before she was imprisoned, and as a result the remaining protectors of Altador put it in a time bubble in order to save it.

The necklace is Jerdana's orb, which was also used to imprison the DF. I think it was a combo of the orb and the rod that imprisoned her.

Side note: TDF was originally a member of the council, and a protector of Altador. She grew jealous, and decided she wanted it all for herself.

The statue Siyana is holding two suns.

I'm guessing that something happened which lead to Altador idolizing sun symbols?? Or maybe the sun figures has some deep, special, important meaning/connection to their twelve heroes...

This is an interesting thought: We're seeing lots of sun symbols. The Sleeper is the "darket faerie." I'm a big Sailor Moon dork and part of the Sailor Moon story is the concept of, "The light attracts darkness, because neither can exist without the other." I doubt this has anything to do with solving this Altador plot, but I think it's rather clever of TNT. :)

I remember in a norse legend that there was a great banquet at Valhalla with 12 of the legendary gods. One of them came uninvited (Loki, the evil one), and told one god (Hod, blind god of winter) to kill Balder the Good (the favorite god) with a spear of mistletoe. Probably not related, but somewhat interesting.
