Thanks for all the kind words, TopsyTourny!
Sky, the recent ?what? have been plot related?
I don't remember there ever being a Trick or Treat spot in the LD.
Glad to hear you are safe and sound, scribe.
Hasn't this been a rather long wait, compared to the wait times so far? Or is it just that TNT has stretched my patience to the limit and it feels extra long? Is it just me, or does it seem like the addition of the scrolls in the repository should have been a much bigger deal? I mean, so far, we have done what amounts to NOTHING with them. Weren't they the whole point of building the dadgum pyramid in the first place - our big "plan" to save Sakhmet - find a solution in the scrolls... so we had to have a place to study them..... so we had to move sand, move blocks, wait for furniture, move furniture, wait for librarians... for what? So we can study the stupid scrolls! It just seems like there should be a way for us to do that....
Side note: The Fortune Teller's message being so far behind is really getting on my nerves.
PS. Typed this over an hour ago and evidently didn't hit Submit before being called away from the puter.
Edit:

I would like to go and look at the spinning scroll by the fortune teller but I do not know how to find the URL to the pic. Can someone tell me how?
http://images.neopets.com/desert/ldp/fortune_teller.swfJust make the window wide and short and you'll see the spinning scroll.

i hope that this is ldp related but is there a chance that since they did neopets up to look all halloweenish that out there there is the next step to the plot ready and waiting for us and i really like the new look
I doubt it is related to the plot, but if you like the Halloween sidebar, last year you could get it permanently if you refreshed in the Haunted Woods between 11:59PM and 12:00AM NST on Halloween night, so perhaps it will be available again tonight.

3. They're waiting for us to solve something. Very possible. There are at least two outstanding mysteries - the scarabing and the chef's food supply.
I would add to that the scrolls inside the repo. and the useless crystal, as we really haven't figured out anything significant to do with them.

4. They're giving people time to map the scrolls. Also very possible, especially with the hint "Let's see what there is to read in here" at the entrance.
I hope not! I absolutely refuse any more busy work!

One plausible next phase would be fetching a particular scroll, which would be greatly aided by a map, but not made impossible without one (I can only find 11 very rare scrolls, the rest occur by the hundred - perhaps the rare ones are worth more points?). A possible scenario would be that the repository is being used for research into how to get the city back and retrieving scrolls for that task sounds possible and certainly follows on from what we've done so far. I would guess that's going to start as soon as the chef gets his food suply (research is hungry/thirsty work!) but whether they're expecting us to solve the riddle of where the missing food is first I don't know. The task of fetching scrolls would also explain why our layouts are different - so we can't exchange info on where they are.
Yes, if we are to believe the scenarios given to us by the Lenny Conundrums, your second scenario seems plausible. I think the chef/foreman's food difficulties were a way of explaining his having the Useless Crystals to give to us. I think if there is any link between the Chef/foreman and the scrolls, it would be the useless crystal, rather than the food. In other words, I think we'd be better off pursuing the mystery of the crystal than the mystery of the food.

Edit: Does anyone think that the chef's comment "This job is boring" may be a hint as to where the food has gone?
??? I don't see what you are getting at here - you think he ate it out of boredom?
