A brilliant point, Moogie, about wanting to reply to the judges. I feel much the same way, so..
Anyway, I'm out for sure this time (13) and I don't think I'll be entering again. It's pretty obvious that regardless of how much work you put into an entry, if it's not amazingly well-made with some fancy-arse program, you're not getting anything for it.
Anyway, to the judges: I think yu really underestimate the difficulties of making a blog in PAINT for crying out loud. For Mithros sake, I had to re-pixel in everything that is under my text area (part of the hammock and the cat's paw). So, yeah. It's a competition about quality and not effort, so...I'm out.
And I really fail to see why we even have to include our program used in the entry if it's not even going to be taken into consideration by the judges...
Requiem, it's not about how much work you put into it, it's about the final product. I will be damn well surprised if a person using Paint ever wins PPTTG. The judges do not judge on programs, they judge on the final product, no matter what you used to get there. Being PPTTG is not about what program you use. It's about the finished product. And I'm sorry if I offend you, but a finished product with Paint cannot compete to a finished product of Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. It even said this in the rules once, no idea if it is still there- if you have Paint, you're unlikely to go very far. You are simply very limited, and your graphics are nearly guaranteed not to turn out as nice. And PPTTG isn't about putting people down or making others feel superior, either. It's about improving on graphics. All the ousted people shouldn't be completely upset they've been ousted, because hopefully they've gotten all they joined the competition for- advice. It's not about winning or losing, it's about getting better, which ousting helps you do.
I know I'm not in this anymore, but I saw this post and wanted to give my two cents, being a former avid user of Paint.
