Site Theme

Site Themes are themed skins for the Neopets website. While a handful of site themes are available to users by default, most site themes must be unlocked by performing certain actions, such as participating in a plot or redeeming a virtual prize code.

Users can change their current site theme by selecting their desired theme from the drop down menu located under the "Theme" section of their Site Preferences page.

History

In October of 2004, The Neopets Team began releasing themed skins for the Neopets website. These skins were called "sidebar themes", since they altered the appearance of the distinct yellow sidebar that was displayed on the left side of the website at that time. As part of the Neopets 2.0 upgrade, the layout of the Neopets website was completely overhauled and the sidebar was removed entirely. Because of this, sidebar themes were updated and redesigned into "site themes" that matched the website's new layout.

Site Themes and Holidays

To make the website more festive, on certain holidays The Neopets Team will override the user's chosen site theme with a holiday appropriate one. All users will see this holiday site theme for the duration of the day, even if they have not otherwise unlocked the theme for normal use. At the end of the day, the site theme will revert back to the user's chosen theme.

Additionaly, as part of the Neoplants April Fools' Day joke in 2009, users were forced to use the Neopets Green site theme for the duration of the day.

All Site Themes

	Neopets Basic This is the default site theme. It is automatically available to all users.
	Haunted Woods Released October 31, 2004 Refresh anywhere on the Neopets website at 11:59pm NST on October 31. This site theme was also rewarded to users that won the first ever Random Contest.
	Happy Birthday Released November 15, 2004 This site theme is available to each individual user on their birthday, and it is available to all users on Neopets' Birthday, which is September 15th. While using this site theme, users have a higher probability of receiving Random Events.
	Winter Holiday Released February 2, 2005 The exact requirements for unlocking this site theme are currently unknown; however, many users have unlocked it while collecting gifts from the Advent Calendar.
	Valentine's Day Released February 14, 2005 Send or receive an A Mysterious Valentines Card item on February 14th.
	Space Faerie Premium Released June 1, 2005 Awarded to all users who sign up for Neopets Premium.
	Curse of Maraqua Released June 14, 2005 Available as a reward to users who participated in the Curse of Maraqua plot. It costs 1 plot point in the Curse of Maraqua prize shop.
	Qasalan Released January 30, 2006 Rewarded to users who completed at least one step during the Lost Desert plot.
	Altador Cup Released August 5, 2006 Rewarded to users who participate in the Altador Cup.
	Cyodrake's Gaze Released September 14, 2006 Rewarded to users who got two or more answers correct during the Cyodrake's Gaze plot.
	Altadorian Constellations Released September 16, 2006 Rewarded to users who complete the Altador Plot.
	Tale of Woe Released March 2, 2007 Rewarded to users who completed at least one step during the Tale of Woe plot.
	Neopets Blue Released April 27, 2007 Automatically available to all users.
	Neopets Green Released April 27, 2007 Automatically available to all users.
	Neopets Red Released April 27, 2007 Automatically available to all users.
	Neopets Yellow Released April 27, 2007 Automatically available to all users.
	Neopets Purple Released August 15, 2007 View the pet lookup of a Neopet that has a Purple Petpet attached to it.
	The Return of Dr. Sloth Released April 1, 2008 Rewarded to users who completed at least one step during The Return of Dr. Sloth plot.
	Petpet Protection League Released October 28, 2008 Rewarded to users who completed at least one step during the Operation: Petpet Park plot.
	Puzzle Adventure Released November 25, 2008 Redeem all ten prize codes from the Neopets Puzzle Adventure video game.
	Quizara's Curse Released March 11, 2009 Redeem all four prize codes from the Quizara's Curse video game.
	Daily Dare Released April 3, 2009 During a Daily Dare event, complete all challenges before the event ends. It does not matter whether you challenge AAA, Abigail or Chadley.
	Atlas of the Ancients Released December 4, 2009 Rewarded to users who completed at least one step during the Atlas of the Ancients plot.
	The Faeries' Ruin Released January 26, 2011 Rewarded to users who completed at least one step during the The Faeries' Ruin plot.
	Festival of Neggs Released May 5, 2011 During a Festival of Neggs event, find each plastic Negg on the day it is released.
	Treasure Keepers Released August 3, 2011 Given to users who completed the Open For Business achievement in Treasure Keepers.
	Krawk Island Released August 9, 2011 Rewarded to users who completed every step of the Disappearance of Krawk Island puzzle on the day that it was released.
	Tyrannia: Mysterious Obelisk Released April 22, 2013 Awarded to users who participated in at least one step of the Obelisk War.
	Battleground: Obelisk Factions Released April 22, 2013 Awarded to users who join and participate with the winning team in Obelisk Skirmishes. Six versions of this theme exist: Battleground: The Sway Battleground: The Thieves Guild Battleground: Order of the Red Erisim Battleground: Brute Squad Battleground: Awakened Battleground: Seekers
	Daily Dare: Chadley Released August 19, 2013 Awarded to users who participated in the 2013 Daily Dare.
	Monster Hunting Released November 2, 2013 Awarded to users who participated in the 2013 Spooky Food Eating Contest.
	Habitarium Released November 6, 2014 Awarded to users who played Habitarium before it was discontinued.
