The Tonu is a rhinoceros-like Neopet released on February 21, 2002. They emerged from the egg of the Giant Omelette in Tyrannia, and have been hatching from such eggs on a daily basis since then, becoming native to the mountains and valleys of the land. The Tonu has a mane similar to a lion, and is completely covered by a thick coat of skin, which will render any attack on it near impossible. they can carry heavy loads with ease and are often seen working at construction sites. They also love to run around and cause havoc, knocking over whatever gets in their way.
Tonu are Limited Edition, A small number are made available on Neopets every day when the Giant Omelette runs out of omellete, making it the only limited edition Neopet made available so often. Users can also use Morphing Potions and the Lab Ray to turn their Neopet into a Tonu.

- As of July 2009, 428,762 (out of 428,838) Tonu's are created on Neopets, placing them 48th in popularity out of 54 Neopets. They are also featured in 76 different items.
- Tonu are very allergic to Neggs, and will break out in Neezles if they eat any.
- In the Neopets TCG, Tonus are associated with the element of Fire.
- Featured as one of the Neopets on a Pocket Neopet.
