The Shoyru is a small dragon-like Neopet released on April 20, 2000. The Shoyru was originally created by a user in a "Create-A-Pet" competition run on the site. Since that time, their design has remained relatively unchanged. Shoyrus are fantastic flyers who love to soar through the skies. Contrary to popular belief, Shoyrus do not breathe fire, and they do in fact possess two eyes.

Shoyrus possess naturally evolved powerful wings, which can fly you there before you can say 'holiday'. Shoyrus are the most popular pet in Neopia. As of March 2007, 12.9 million Shoyru have been created. Average of 7.2 thousand Shoyrus are born per day.

- As of January 2007, there were over 12.7 million shoyrus created, giving them the distinction of being Neopia's most popular pet. They are also featured in 122 different items and come in 45 different colours.
- Shoyru Day is April 2nd.
