The Usul is a squirrel-like Neopet released on November 15, 1999 as one of the original Neopets on the site. Usuls are loyal and friendly pets who prefer to live in trees. During cold weather, Usuls are the first to share their food with friends.
The Usul began to receive large attention on June 7, 2001, with the release of Usuki Dolls and Usukiland, an item type and shop which focuses solely on Usul-type items. The Usul can also be painted the Usuki colour, which is unique to the Usul with the Usuki Paint Brush. Because of its affiliation with Usuki, the Usual is to date the most featured Neopet in all of the items in Neopets, with newer Usuki being added every year, including on August 20, the Annual Usuki Doll Convention.
