The Shoyru is a small dragon-like Neopet released on April 20, 2000. The Shoyru was originally created by a user in a "Create-A-Pet" competition run on the site. Since that time, their design has remained relatively unchanged. Shoyrus are fantastic flyers who love to soar through the skies. Contrary to popular belief, Shoyrus do not breathe fire, and they do in fact possess two eyes.
Need a quick method to travel to the far and distant lands of Neopia? Fancy a winter holiday up in Snow Valley or to visit the home of the faeries in Faerieland? Shoyrus possess naturally evolved powerful wings, which can fly you there before you can say 'holiday'. Shy by nature, this dragonish Neopet is very versatile and is a ferocious fighter, making this seasoned battler a prime candidate for people who visit the battledome to duke it out in a test of strength, skill, speed, defense and agility.

- As of March 2007, there were over 12.9 million shoyrus created, giving them the distinction of being Neopia's most popular pet. On an average, 7.2 thousand Shoyrus are born per day. They are also featured in 122 different items and come in 45 different colours.
- Shoyru Day is April 2nd.
- In the Neopets TCG, Shoyrus are associated with the element of air.
