When to Upload
*In most cases, an image for use on the wiki should be a PNG uploaded via the Upload file page.
Images should be uploaded when they are required to illustrate and article or a template. The most appropriate image available should be chosen.
*Images should be optimized for the web and their size should not exceed 100 kilobytes.
*Images' dimensions should be approximately the same size as on the official site and never exceed 600 pixels in width.
*JPEG format is generally only desirable for "live action" pictures.
*GIF formats are only desirable in the rare case of an animated GIF picture.
*BMP formats are never desirable.
*When uploading the file, be sure to give it a meaningful name which describes its content and more importantly, its use on the Wiki, as in this example:
:"some_guy32.png" is not meaningful. "King_Skarl_HTD.png" is more meaningful.
*Images should only contain information relevant only to the article it is being used for (image showing only King Skarl in his personal article, clearly showing his face and body). If there is no such image, find the most relevent to make due.
*Create a clear description of the image in the summary, and where it was taken from (i.e. King Skarl image taken from "How To Draw" page at images.neopets.com/art/misc/skarl10.gif)

If you have any questions on what image would be proper for a certain article, discuss it in that articles Discussion page.
File Formats
Generally when uploading images to a Wiki, the preferred file format is .PNG, however, as Neopets uses .GIF for many of their images, .GIF is usually used when uploading images taken directly from the Neopets servers.
Screen shots, modified or compiled images; and images not from the Neopets servers should ideally be .PNG.

When uploading images to the NeoDex via the Upload File tool, there are a number of guidelines to follow.

When to Upload

Images should be uploaded when they are required to illustrate and article or a template. The most appropriate image available should be chosen.

Screen shots, modified or compiled images; and images not from the Neopets servers should ideally be .PNG.

.JPEG should be reserved for live action photographs, and .BMP should never be used.

File Names

Usually, the name of a file on the Neopets servers is the name that the file should be uploaded under. If this is very obscure and doesn't suggest what the image is, or if the image is not directly of Neopets origin, then a relevant name should be used instead.

Game play buttons have developed the name syntax of Play[Game ID].gif.

Image Description

An image should include a description of what it is and where the source of the image is. Don't include the 'http://' on image URLs from the Neopet's servers.
