A Petpetpet is a small insect similar to fleas or other such creatures which act as pets for a Petpet. Many of them resemble insects, leading many to believe that these critters are actually parasites of Petpets, much like real-world fleas and ticks. As of May 31, 2006, there are 30 Petpetpets in existence.
Petpetpets are usually expensive, and are often viewed as a status symbol. The Petpetpet article of the Neopets Help section says, "Petpetpets are usually found by your Petpet. Very rarely, Petpets are able to catch one of these elusive little bugs in their mouth, and happily bring them back to their owners." If the sole source of the Petpetpets is indeed a random event, that would certainly help explain their rarity, and hence their high prices.
Once obtained, a Petpetpet can attach itself to a Petpet by following these guidelines...
- The Petpet that will become the host of the Petpetpet to is attached to the users active Neopet.
- The Petpetpet is in their inventory.
- Refreshing the inventory until the Petpetpet disappears.
Assuming the disappearance was not the fault of the Pant Devil, the Petpetpet should now be attached to the Petpet of the users active Neopet.
If user wants to remove the Petpetpet, all they need to do is unequip the Petpet, which is achieved by clicking on the Petpet on the users Quick Ref page and selecting "Stop Playing with (Petpet's name)." The Petpetpet will then be gone, with no way of retrieving it, making it a difficult action to take, and must make sure it's what they really want to go through.
