Codestones are special rocks that are carved with specific runes. On the Neopets webstie, they are a special class of item. There are two cagetories of codestones: basic and red. Basic codestones are tan in color and are used to pay for training at Techo Master's Training School on Mystery Island. Red codestones are red in color and are used to pay for training at the Secret Ninja Training School.

Basic codestones first appeared in Neopia as part of the Arrival of Virtupets plot. During this plot, users were implored to bring one million codestones to the Island Mystic so he could decrypt Dr. Sloth's letter.
