A Faerie Quest is a special Quest given by a random Random Event where a user is asked to help and and find  a certain item for the Faerie. These quests are given out by Faeries.
Faerie Quests are quests about retrieving certain items for certain faeries without using the Shop Wizard. Different faeries ask for different items, and give different rewards. Before The Faeries' Ruin, these quests were given out by Random Event, however on 7 February 2011 they were relaunched with an on-demand system, where the user could be issued up to one quest per day, until 24 February, after which they will return to being issued randomly.

When a user has a Faerie Quest, they are unable to use the Shop Wizard. Because of this rule many guilds and communities with the purpose of helping others find their items have been created, because while one user is unable to use the Shop Wizard, another can. There is also a Quests section in the Neoboards for this purpose as well. Users which help others this way are sometimes called Quest Partners, and they will search for the item on the Shop Wizard and either:
There is no time limit for a Faerie Quest.
#Give the username of shop owners who sell the requested item to the user with the quest.
#Buy the item and put it up in the Trading Post for the user.
#Give the item freely to the user.

Quest Partners are usually two users who live in the same or similar time zones. It's against Neopets Terms and Conditions for one user to use a side account to find their quest item.

Before the events of The Faeries' Ruin, certain elemental faeries (dubbed Uber Faeries), the Faerie Queen, the Fountain Faerie and the Space Faerie would sometimes give quests out to players as random events. They asked for certain items to be retrieved without the use of the Shop Wizard, and gave certain rewards (see below to a random one of the user's pets. The reason they needed these items was unclear.

Upon returning with the specific item to the Faerie Quest HQ, the Faerie will reward a random Neopet of the users (said to be the most deserving of the gift by the faeries). All rewards raise the Neopets stats with the exception of the Earth Faerie and Fountain Faerie quests, which feeds your Neopet to "Bloated" (while also increasing it's weight) and gives a free pass to the Rainbow Fountain, respectively.
During the events of the plot, however, Faerieland fell, and when Faerie Quests were relaunched on 7 February, Fyora explained that the faeries needed the items to prepare magical spells to restore the city. Between 7 February and 24 February, these quests were given out daily on demand. The faeries began to give stat rewards only to the user's active pet at this time.

Because unlike other quests, such as the Esophagor's or Jhudora's, one cannot use the Shop Wizard while a quest is in progress there is no time limit for the user can get the item. However, as the Shop Wizard cannot be used, it can become a nusiance for people who use the Shop wizard alot.
After the relaunch, the Shop Wizard also began explaining why he couldn't aid the player - because of "[a]ncient laws of magic".
Penalty
If a user does not wish to complete a quest, they can refuse it at the Faerie Quest HQ. Doing so will penalize the user from having another quest for ten minutes.

Quests were originally gotten from request, but many users were abusing the privilige so TNT made Uber-Faerie quests show up randomly. For example, if you were browsing the site and checking out the boards, a Light Faerie may show up and ask for a Kasuki Lu card.
There are eleven types of faeries that can give Faerie Quests. The six elemental faeries each ask for a certain type of item, and each reward a certain stat boost. Following the post-The Faeries' Ruin update, this stat reward is given to the user's active Neopet - before, it was given randomly to any of their pets.

While Jhudora and Illusen are Faeries who give quests, their quests aren't considered Faerie Quests and follow different rules than Faerie Quests that are offered to you rather than the ones where you find the faerie. Besides being a voluntary quest, they have a time limit of 16 minutes 40 seconds, the shop wizard can be used and their rewards are part of a fixed set of items. If you do a Jhudora quest you can't do an Illusen quest for 12 hours and vice-versa.

Taelia is another Faerie who gives quests but, again, they are timed, you are allowed to use the shop wizard, and she generally asks for more than one item.  You may do up to 10 of Taelia's quests on any given day.

Advantages
Almost all Faerie Quests are beneficial, and considering the low price of certain items in quests, are much cheaper in training Neopets. The exception to this is the Earth Faerie, as it is inexpensive to feed and heal your pet, and the magic items she asks for can be quite pricey. It depends on how much you want your pet to gain weight.

Disavantages
You have temporary denied access to the shop wizard, which will cause problems if you're doing something like, say, feeding Kadoaties.

Trivia
*In the earlier days of Neopets, Faerie Quests were given on request, but this system was replaced with the random event method, presumably because some users were abusing the privilege.

Revision as of 19:31, 9 February 2011

This article is about quests given by the full spectrum of Faeries. For quests given by specific faeries, see Illusen's Glade or Jhudora's Bluff.

There is no time limit for a Faerie Quest.

History

An example of a Fire Faerie Quest.

After the relaunch, the Shop Wizard also began explaining why he couldn't aid the player - because of "[a]ncient laws of magic".

Quest types

There are eleven types of faeries that can give Faerie Quests. The six elemental faeries each ask for a certain type of item, and each reward a certain stat boost. Following the post-The Faeries' Ruin update, this stat reward is given to the user's active Neopet - before, it was given randomly to any of their pets.

There are five other faeries who can give out Faerie Quests. The Crafting Faerie was introduced on 7 February 2011. She is a Dark Faerie called Delina. The Battle Faerie had been introduced before the update, but only started giving out quests on 7 February.

Three other faeries also ask for items on rarer occasions. They are:
