The Pterodactyl (also known as the Tyrannian Beast or Lair Beast) is an ancient creature that lurks in the caves north of Tyrannia. Neopets who are brave enough to venture far enough into its cave will encounter the monster.
In the caves in the North of Tyrannia, lies a monster that, when the cave is entered and you approach it, will attack you and take away some HP from your pet.

It is featured in two items, the Lair Beast Tooth Shield and the Lair Beast Claw, and is the enemy in the game Bouncy Supreme. Other, multi-coloured Pterodactyls appear in Pterattack.
