The '''Mynci''' is one of many different species that exist in [[Neopia]]. As a general rule Myncies are mischievous and cheeky, loving nothing more than playing pranks on other Neopets. A lovable creature and quite fun to have as a pet. Their agility and balance helps the Mynci to fly high gathering foods from the trees and high plains.

The '''Mynci''' (from [[wikipedia:Welsh|Welsh]] ''[[wiktionary:mwnci|mwnci]]'', ''monkey'') is [[wikipedia:monkey|monkey]]-like [[Neopet]] that was introduced at [[Neopets|the site]]'s founding as the ''Mellish'' (see [[Mynci#Old designs|below]]). They are natural acrobats: agile with good balance, they can swing from trees and [http://www.neopets.com/tcg/displayCard.phtml?edid=1&id=164 dangle] from their tails to get at the [http://www.neopets.com/tcg/displayCard.phtml?edid=5&id=51 tastiest fruit].  
Mynci is the Welsh word for the metal hames in a harness, though it's likely Neopets confused it with the similar Welsh word "mwnci", meaning monkey. Both are homophones of the English word "monkey" when used in Welsh but according to the Neopets pronunciation guide the pronunciation of the Neopet is "mwn-sea".


Amongst the four basic colours, as well as the colours [[Pink]], [[Spotted]], [[Starry]], and [[White]], the Mynci's face, ears, and belly remain unchanged while their fur is recoloured.
The pet now known as the Mynci was originally named the ''Mellish'', one of the original pets. It was based after a friend of Adam's. It was reworked into the Mynci on June 29, 2000.
 
They are mischievous Neopets who love to play pranks on others. In the [[Neopets Trading Card Game]], they are associated with the element of earth.

The first incarnation of the Mynci was known as the Mellish, and appeared as a drawing of a ginger man in a chequered shirt. The colour of the shirt changed when the Mellish was repainted. The Mellish was reworked into the monkey-like Mynci on 29 June 2000.
