Faerie Bubbles is an action game released on 14th January 2004. It's gameplay is similar to the classic game Puzzle Bobble. The aim of the game is to clear all of the bubbles from the screen before they reach the bottom. There are 20 levels in total.

How to play
The aim of the game is to clear all faerie bubbles from the screen before they pass the red penalty line. Users must group at least three bubbles of the same type together, which will make those bubbles pop. Bubbles are shot from the bubble cannon, which is guided by the left and right arrow keys, centered with the up arrow, and fires bubbles with the space bar. Besides directly shooting a bubble, users can bounce them off the wall, which can help reach areas which would be impossible as a straight shot. After a certain number of shots, the ceiling will lower, bringing the bubbles closer, and if any of the bubbles should pass below the penalty line, the game ends.

If a user gets four or more bubbles of the same type together it will set off a combo, which gives special affects depending on the type of faerie bubble. The Dark, Earth, and Air combinations are considered to be bad while the Fire, Water, and Light are considered good (the Light faerie bubble is debatable due to its random nature, which can sometimes ruin or save gameplay). Their affects are...

*Water - Destroys all water bubbles no matter where they are on the screen.
How to Play
*Light - Changes all bubbles touching the combo to a single random faerie bubble.
Faerie Bubbles pop if you get three of the same type together, and it's up to you to clear each level by popping all of them. Use the left and right arrow keys to move the bubble cannon and press the space bar to fire. To reach difficult areas it is sometimes helpful to bounce the bubbles off the wall. The less moves you complete each level in, the higher your score will be.
*Fire - Destroys all non-water bubbles that touch the combo.
*Air - Will fill the whole line of each bubble with random bubbles.
*Earth - Makes a new line of bubbles appear at the top of the screen.
*Dark - All the bubbles in the combo will turn to random bubble types.

The bubble cannon used in the game has the ability to show which two bubbles are going to be fired after the current one, a feature used to make a strategy. At random, the cannon will sometimes give two special types of faerie bubbles to fire, which give the game a sense of randomness. They are...
If you get four or more bubbles of the same colour together you will set off a combo. The Dark, Earth, and Air combinations are considered to be the bad while the Fire and Water are considered good. The Light combo can be either good or bad depending on what colour it turns adjacent bubbles into.

*Nova - Destroys all bubbles within two bubbles of where it lands.
The combinations are:
*Rainbow - Turns into the same type of bubble it touches first.
:Water - This destroys all water bubbles no matter where they are on the screen.
:Light - This changes all bubbles touching the combo to a single random colour.
:Fire - This burns all non-water bubbles that touch the combo.
:Air - This will fill the whole line of each bubble with random bubbles.
:Earth - This makes a new line of bubbles appear at the top of the screen.
:Dark - All the bubbles in the combo will turn to random colours except Nova and Rainbow.

A single game can consists of 20 levels, and users can pause gameplay by clicking the "X" in the top left hand corner of the screen to use certain options, such as turn music off and end the game. A user's score is decided by the number of bubbles they pop and how many bubbles they used to complete the level. The less bubbles, the higher the bonus will be.
There are two special types of bubbles in the game:
:Nova - This destroys the bubbles two spots around where it lands.
:Rainbow - This turns into the same colour as the bubble it touches first.

Codes
Just in case you didn't know - you can click the little X in the top left hand corner of the game board to get options such as turn music off and restart.
*bubbles - Makes every bubble on the screen exactly the same. Can only be used once per play.
*faerieland - Turns the current bubble in the bubble cannon into a Rainbow bubble. Can only be used once per play.
*slumberberry - Raises the ceiling all the way back to the top. Can only be used once per play.
*stardust - Turns the current bubble in the bubble cannon into a Nova bubble. Can only be used once per play.

**Type in stardust for a nova bubble.
*At the game start screen, if the user clicks the speck of fire on the first lower-case "b" in "Bubbles", TPOSG will briefly appear on the bottom right corner with water, earth and fire bubbles.
**Type in bubbles makes every bubble on the screen exactly the same.
*Faerie Bubbles was featured in the Games Master Challenge and Daily Dare.
**Type in faerieland to get a rainbow bubble.
*The fact that a water combo causes all water bubbles to fall is based on the scientific fact of capillary action and hydrogen bonds, in which water molecules adhere to each other so the movement of one molecule causes other molecules to follow.
**Type in slumberberry to get the black space bar away.
*It's quite possible the game is based off the "Faerie Bubble" Faerie Food items (flavours later collected in Delicious Faerie Bubbles, released February 2, 2004). There are also other items which feature Faerie Bubbles, such as a Book titled Faerie Bubbles (released January 27, 2004), which is said to give "Excellent strategies for the best score in the least moves possible". However, reading this or having this in a user's inventory does not affect gameplay. A Faerie Bubble Bracelet and Faerie Bubble Blower were also released as prizes for Daily Dare.
*An error experienced with the pop-up menus was fixed on May 31, 2004.
*Fully translated into into Chinese (simplified and traditional), French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean and Japanese on August 10, 2004.
*The Faerie Bubbles Screensaver was released on September 21, 2004.
