The '''Faeries''' are an all-female race of magical creatures that inhabit [[Neopia]]. They were first introduced to the [[Neopets]] website on January 14, 2000.  Faeries are [[Wikipedia:Humanoid|humanoid]] in appearance and have slightly pointed ears.   With the exception of the [[Wikipedia:Mermaid|mermaid]]-like [[Water Faerie]]s and the wingless [[Grey Faerie]], all faeries have a pair of wings on their back that give them the ability to fly.  While most faeries appear to be roughly the size of a normal human, [[TNT]] has stated that faeries can use their magic to shrink at will, becoming small enough to fit inside of a bottle.  This shrinking power was explicitly demonstrated by the [[The Four Faeries|Four Faeries]] in [[Neoquest II]].  Faeries are also known to be very long lived, or perhaps even immortal.  Queen Fyora, for example, is at least one thousand years old.

==Bottled Faeries==

Sometimes, an unfortunate faerie will be captured by [[Balthazar]] the bounty hunter and imprisoned in a small glass bottle.  These bottled faeries act as tradable [[item]]s on the [[Neopets]] website.  There are six types of bottled faeries, each of which correspond to one of the six types of faeries that inhabit Neopia.  If a [[Neopet]] releases a faerie from its bottle prison, the newly freed faerie will bless the Neopet with a special ability that can be used in the [[Battledome]].

As well as the more common spell faerie, there are also six extra-powerful versions of each faerie called the Uber Faeries. They, along with the [[Faerie Queen]], the [[Fountain Faerie]], and the [[Space Faerie]], grant [[quests]] to users, asking for specific items in return for altering a pet's stats. Originally, users could request to do a Faerie Quest but because people abused the privilege they were changed into random events on October 2nd, 2000.

Faerie is also one of the many [[colour]]s that users can paint their [[Neopet|Neopets]] and [[Petpet|Petpets]].  Faerie pets are know for their vibrant colours and beautiful faerie-like wings.  The Faerie colour for Neopets was released on January 16, 2001, and the Faerie colour for Petpets was released on November 7, 2001.
