Crescendo wrote:-shudder- I can't STAND soap operas. Every episode is the same to me:

Woman#429: You mean...Billy dumped Susan for Jeremy just so he could look into Karen's eyes to see that the real, true love was for Lalaine's pet schnauzer...
LoveInterest#783: Yes, Johanna...but it was all for you.
Woman#429: Oh really? -slap-
LoveInterest: Why don't you understand me anymore?

Sorry, not my type of watchin'.

I agree completely. All soap operas are just dramatic pieces of crap. In my mind, anyway. They're all:

Guy: 'Oh, I thought you loved me!'
Girl: 'No, I love one of the other four hundred men in this television series.'
Guy: 'Oh, I see. This means I must kill you now.'
Girl: 'Yeah, I know. I've already been killed twice this season.'

Actually, no one actually every really dies in soap operas :P
And even if they do 'die' they come back a few months later.

I don't watch the same Days in America (i'm 4 years behind) but isn't there that whole virtual salem?? Where every one who Marlana murdered got there?

Conversation in a random Soap Opera:

Jane: Fredrick, we must end our relationship!
Fredrick: Why?! I've done nothing wrong...
Jane: You don't like my cookings!! GOODBYE!!
*Jane leaves*
Fredrick: I cannot live anymore, aaaaaurrgghh!!
*Fredrick jumps out of a window*
*A guy comes in to the house*
Guy: Is anyone home? Oh, a open window...
*Guy heads to close the window*
Guy: WOW, GREAT!! HE CRUSHED INTO THE GROUND!!! I ALWAYS HATED THAT GUY!!
*Jane comes in*
Jane: What did you do, Mark?! Did you kill him...?
Mark: No, I didn't!
*Jane takes out gun and shoots Mark, Mark flies out of the window*
Jane: Liar...

And etc. Wow, that was pretty long.

Yet o' so true.

Oh man, Dark Shadows has been my favorite show since I was six, and even then it was in reruns. It is a soap opera, actually, and I am proud to be a fan of it ;)

Released from his chained coffin after nearly 200 years, Vampire Barnabas Collins arrives at the Collinwood estate claiming to be a relative from England. Although noticing Barnabas's resemblance to his "ancestor" in the foyer portrait, the Collins family does not realize he is the same Barnabas who lived at Collinwood in the 18th century. As Barnabas moves into the Old House on the property, those around him are unaware of the horrors that will soon follow.

I watch Days Of Our Lives religiously. My brother is trying to get me to watch The Young And The Restless, but I refuse... the plotlines are too realistic, they remind me of LifeTime made-for-TV movies.
As far as Days is concerned at the moment. I love the Olympics and all.... but I'm going to go crazy without my soapiness for two weeks. I'm also so very sick of Shawn-in-a-cage. I'm glad they got a better Belle. The first new one scared me.
I'm sick of seeing Jennifer hanging off of cliffs. It seems to happen every 5 seconds.
My favourite couple is Sami and Lucas. They belong together.
I also love the idea of Brady and Nicole together, they're both so pretty.
Mimi is one of my favourite characters, she's so funny.

I'm currently hooked on Days. Started watching it Monday and of course its not gonna start up again till August 30. And then 2 days later I go back to school :(

I wonder if we have the Soap Opera channel...

Wow. I had no idea there were so many Days fans here. Not long after the new forums were up I made a thread about Days and it was dead. Lol.

I keep on hearing about Brady and Nicole, but isn't Nicole much older than Brady??

The Days here, Brady is in a wheelchair :peace:

LOL considering Victor could be Nicoles Grandpa....

They're roughly around the same age if you figure it out.

Nicole & Eric were around the same age

Eric and Sami are twins

John and Izabella had brady before he hooked up with Marlena thinking he was Roman, Izabella died shortly after Brady was born from Cancer.

John thinkin he was Roman raised Eric & Sami when they were very small.

a couple years off at most.

It's a wonder I didn't see this thread earlier. I love the Young and the Restless! Or, at least, the plot they call "Shameron". But they just ended it recently with Cameron Kirsten willingly going to jail :x
Actually, I haven't watched Y&R since then. I guess that's because I'm furious with them for ending the plot (which went on for like, 8 months) so undramatically.

I kind of watch Soap Operas, but its in Thai. They are called "Lakorns" there and they have a set number of episodes, then they end. They are fun to watch - its really popular in Thailand, and the Stars actually know how to act. :P

Well, now that I moved, I'm soap opera-less, but I watched Guiding Light all the time. It's a family tradition. I watched Y&R some, but I never got as into it.

Or 14/15 years later like in Eastenders.

If you still want your soaps, you can buy them online from here: http://www.soapcity.com/
My brother uses that site to get his soaps, you pay $9.95 for a month's worth of direct downloads from them. Though... you'd have to wait until abour 9 PM your time to watch them =P
