Day 7: matched 2, 12k and Void Spaghetti and Void Orb Meatballs (ewww)

Thanks, Trudy! Another match tomorrow, please!

Woke up to my phone not being able to turn on. The battery decided to go from charging once a day to once every three hours, and then in a week, to needing to be plugged in, to two weeks later, apparently not even turning on. Thankfully I got advice on a new phone last night, so I spent today picking it up, setting it up, buying a better case and screen protector online (and a battery replacement kit for the old one)... And then the new one updated the OS and erased all the settings I'd put it. Just had to spend a bunch of time turning off the background data permission on every single app. Again. Sigh. At least I have a working phone now.

Don't have any of my tabs or bookmarks on it, so I had to run dailies on my laptop. And now I can finally go to bed. I only need to be up for work in... just under seven hours. (Not including the pet-sitting I need to do beforehand. And afterwards...)

At least I have now bought all 3 things I needed that required a ton of research (new shoes -- my favorites were discontinued, and I have very narrow feet, which don't match the current trend of wide shoes at all, health insurance, and the phone).

No fun on the phone. I have come to loathe getting new electronics of any sort. Too many changes and too much emphasis on getting away from the basics and trying to have AI do everything for you. Bleh.

Day 2, 0 matches.

Bummer on the phone, Siniri. I, too loathe the new electronics. Each new OS seems to make things worse. I had a similar battery issue with my phone. Eventually, it would last about 45 minutes, jumping from 45% to zero in maybe a minute I really didn't want a new phone. L
The battery replacement kit I bought went extremely well and it's all good again. Battery lasts all day and then some.

Hopefully, your new shoes work out. I too have a horrible time with shoes. I just bought new shoes for at the bar - same brand, same size, but these cut my feet. The last pair were great. :(

Day 8: no matches, 11875

Hopefully I can match again tomorrow!

Blue, I hear you on the shoes. I hope they stop hurting your feet once they're broken in (and that happens quickly).

It's funny, I drove all over the metro area to like 8 different running shoe stores (each sent me to the next with 1-2 potential shoes to try on there that might meet my specific needs), and I found the pair that worked at REI's returns sale (a model no one ever suggested). $40 for barely worn shoes (dirty, but no perceptible wear on the soles or inside), and they were significantly better than every single pair of $140+ new models. I figure even if they're not perfect, they're better than wearing 4yo shoes.

That model has been updated, so if I like them, hopefully the new version will still work well for me, and I can order them online for a bit until my favorite brand that fits me best makes a similar shoe again.

Day 3, matched 2

Glad you found good shoes at a great price! I bought shoe stretchers and the stretching spray. It helped a little, but my pinkie toe still isn't at all happy, which makes for a miserable shift and sore feet for a few days. Seriously considering Doc Marten Air Wair boots, provided that the toe area is nice and wide. If they're comfy, provide good support, and are cushy, then they will be well worth the price. Then again maybe Sketchers slip resistant shoes might work well, too, at a better price. I'll think about it tomorrow. Merry Christmas!

Day 21, Matched 2, 19k

The shoes I like were changed 3 versions ago, for no apparent reason. The new version is NOT the same as the old one and I hate it. They make my feet hurt. I've been ordering the old version off Amazon...but I think the supply has dried up. I'm going to have to find something new next time I need new shoes. Sigh.

Day 9: 17k (matched 2)
Day 10: 19k

Matches on 3/4 of the critical days makes up for a bad BLB, so it should be an average round.

I bought two pairs of new shoes in fall 2020, even though I didn't really need them yet, because I was worried about supply chain issues. Except by the time I needed a new pair, I found out that was the last version the company made, and my size was completely sold out, even online. I bought an awful pair from a different company, and when those wore out, I finally emailed my original shoe company in desperation asking what was most similar (after not seeing anything on their online shoe matching guide). Their response: nothing, but thanks for letting us know, and maybe we'll make something similar again someday.

And that started my online and in person research of probably 80 hours. At this point, it's barely possible for me to find a shoe that even fits me properly, which is the most basic criterion. I really need that original brand... Hopefully they make a similar shoe again soon.
