Just some information for you all:

Quote:
Greetings to the Nexon community!

As some of you may be aware, there was recently an IP Block that affects European players for KartRider, as this client is only for North American players at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Concerning MapleStory, we are also aware of our European players wondering if they will be IP blocked from MapleStory Global now that the European version has launched. In short, no—however, there are a few details you need to know.

We are aware of the time you invested in your characters, and you will be able to play them so long as MapleStory Global is active. However, new European accounts will be required to sign-up for the European MapleStory service. We will announce a cut-off date in the near-future for new Europe registrations in MapleStory Global. After this cut-off date, MapleStory Global will no longer accept new European players.

Thanks for playing and see you in-game!

- Nexon America Staff -

I hope any Europeans wanting to join us on MapleGlobal sign up soon. Both happy, yet sad, news. Considering the large number of English speakers who want to play with American friends, I find this move slightly annoying. Ah well, at least I don't have to worry.

Eh, no worries about that, Tom. I'd make accounts for whoever wants them and I'm sure other non-Europeans would be willing to help too. :)

Just have to post that you want to join, though. >=O

There are so many idiots at Basil that actually think that Europeans are being BANNED, and it's annoying the freaking crap out of me. -_-

Well, just stay away from hackers and you'll be fine. Also, the higher the level of the person in your party (say you invite a level 50 or something), I believe you don't get EXP for their kills. Other than that, the more people you have in a party, the less EXP a person gets per kill, but now that they've added the Party Bonus in (I think two patches ago), you get a good chunk of EXP for larger parties too.

It's only if the monster is too high levelled I think ;) Since Laq was at 50 I think when she helped train my weakling 16? 17? I'm too lazy to look up that screenshot and I just got very little exp...the higher the level the more they leech ... so it's best to stay at their levels or around there...so leeching isn't extreme :O Other than that I think what you said is pretty accurate

Oh and a very late update on that European block: [Oops? oO]

Good thing I made another GMS account for myself right before the cut off. You know, just in case something happens to mine, or in case someone I know will want to play. I deserve a reward. Breakfast! XD

In other news ...it's probably been a few months since the last time I went on my assassin and tried to level. Yesterday though, ...did any of you notice some sort of, odd hyperactive buzz, that kept ordering you to play Maple and level up at least once? Or was that just me? o_O

Ended up getting 90% in one sitting. x.x

On this note, anyone who had a MapleSEA account before their IP ban, can now play it again, but no one outside of the SEA area can create new accounts.

For a while now I have been telling you all that we have ?Hacking Detection?. I hinted that we have been watching. I expressed how serious we are about getting rid of hacking in the game. It seems many people still have not gotten the hint. So, we have decided to adapt our methods a bit. For several months now we have been logging all hacking that has happened in-game.

Since these logs were implemented we have been running tests and scenarios to determine the accuracy of these logs. As of this time we have not found any false positives in these logs.

Additionally, we have run several control scenarios in which players during late hours were found in-game hacking. We waited to ban them until the next day during known work hours. This lead to several claims of ?Legit Bans? of course, this was wrong, as we had the evidence in hand.

Out of the thousands of accounts we have looked into at this point, I have only found a couple accounts that were actually wrongfully banned. And those were either related to KSing hackers, or leeching from a hacker, which we have informed players not to do in the past.

I think many of the members of the Maple community who read the forums can probably remember some of the effects of this. Yes, this is why we saw such a rash in ?Legit? claims, and also why we could prove these were false with videos. We have found that the "Legit" claims stem from bans that take place in any way different than normal. For example, when our weekend shifts ban people, when we ban on verified logs, and when we ban FM hackers. These all receive "Legit" complaints, because these individuals did not think they could have been caught as they weren't disconnected while they were actually hacking. Obviously, this isn?t the case.

On that note, I have a few announcements. Starting today we are banning out of our logs, almost exclusively. As all hacking in the game gets logged, there stands to be a great deal of players banned. If you are hacking, you are going to be banned. This will continue until the implementation of an auto banning system. Don?t think bypassing gameguard is going to save anybody, gameguard is not the tool used to log, this strictly server-side.

Unfortunately we can not implement permanent bans at this time. That time is coming soon as well, but we aren?t quite there yet. However we have adapted to this as well. From here on out we are also implementing hack severity ratings. This means, the more we see that you have hacked, the longer you will be banned. Many players received up to 90 day bans today. This is not the most severe penalty, only the most severe issued today.

I also need to announce that Rank Blocking has been put into place. All players banned for hacking will now be taken off the rankings permanently, regardless of severity rating.

Finally we would like to announce that we will be banning guilds in their entirety if we believe them to encourage illegal activity. This means, if a hacker is in your guild, and you are NOT a hacker, you need to kick them out immediately.

Guild leaders are responsible for the members of their guild in ALL activities. You are the role model and the authority figure. If your guild rules do not encourage fair play, you might want to implement that rule now. If your guild is a problem, it will be banned.

These bans will take place with or without warning depending on severity. This does not mean that just because one person got banned for hacking the whole guild gets banned. But it does mean that if we believe that the guild is a problem, it will be resolved.

We are committed to fixing this situation. While we have been focused on hackers, many players have taken advantage of our decreased presence when dealing with Community Standards, harassment and other in-game issues. This stops today.

KSing, holding maps (i.e. Zakum), foul language, harassment, scamming, mass defaming; these will all be met with 30 day bans from now on. Additionally, all accounts tied to your account will also be given a 30 day ban, as well as your entire guild in some cases.

Many players are expressing their frustrations over the hacking and general ?drama? going on in-game right now. We appreciate all of the suggestions, comments and constructive criticism. Not only does it help us focus, but it is always discussed, and often times used to determine priorities.

The Maple Community has been a strong force in our motivations on the decisions and policies implemented today. We have a lot of work to do, and we thank you for your continued support.

-The MapleStory Staff-

There is hope for a hacker - less [well not entirely but close anyways] MapleStory environment :D This is in case nobody has read this/seen this yet.

"Kill Stealing"

Is when someone is killing enemy spawn or creatures that are already there and you purposely go up and start killing them when someone else was there first.

A lot of people get ticked off even if it was on accident, but you'll often get people that kill your* spawn on purpose.

* = Ethically speaking, as a person can't actually HAVE a creature or map, but it's common courtesy.

Fore example, you're in a map with 4 platforms (Henesys Hunting Ground III for example), and a person is on the third platform, and is the only person on that screen. A person comes up and starts killing monsters on that same platform even though every other platform is empty and has the same monster spawn. They do it just to be a moron, usually. That's pretty much what KSing is.

Wow, Mass defames are against the rules :o.

It's great that they're finally doing something about this, but I feel that the mention in guilds was a little bit wierd. Why is it the leader (or any of the members) fault if one of them starts to hack? That would be like them saying that everyone on the map at that time was encouraging the hack ~ it's just ridiculous.

Once this whole hacking thing is sorted out, they definatly need to work on smega stuff. Seriously, I wouldn't mind if they did that before dealing with hackers. Lately my whole screen has just been full of smega wars (although not as much as before).

Also, how is KSing agaisnt the rules? I mean... it just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Who would they judge as the KSer? Let's take Kuges example of Henesys Hunting Ground. Let's say the initial KSer (named Joe) was on the third platform with whoever was there first (named Bob). After KSing Bob, Joe starts to kill another monster. Since Bob was on the platform first, he proceeds to kill it. Also like Kuge said, no one can own a monster in MS. Thus, there is no way to 'steal' a kill. It's like the Birthday present story I posted - Sure he killed the monster that dropped it, but I took it. I think that was perfectly legit, and I think KSing shouldn't be agaisnt the rules (as annoying as KSing is). I hope that made at least some sense, as I know I worded it awfully. Hopefully what I'm trying to say is said though ^^ /rant

KSing is a form of harassment, thus against the rules. There's no logical reason to kill enemies someone else is already killing if there plenty of room to go elsewhere. You're basically doing it to annoy other people. No one KSes with good intentions.

Well Kill stealing is more like this scenario:

A happy little player we will call Syrill [who has NO relation to me O:-)] is training on slimes in the slime tree. Suddenly, another player goes into the slime tree. We'll call this other player Kugetsu [no relation to anyone you know ;)]. While Syrill is happily hitting slimes for 1 damage each, Kugetsu for no apparent reason rather than the evil within his...or her soul decides to go after EVERY monster Syrill tries to kill. He hits one slime. Kugetsu goes for the kill. He runs off to hit another slime some way away. Kugetsu follows and goes for the kill. It's basically a I WON'T LET YOU TRAIN BECAUSE I'M IMMATURE!

They basically stalk you and kill monsters you can't kill in one hit. This is usually a way of chasing people off your map since you can't really train when someone else keeps killing your monsters. However, there are some immature personages out there who decide that they'll do it just for their own amusement

An accidental hitting of a monster someone else has been attacking is not so much kill stealing as it is an "Oops... my bad..."

Hopefully that explains it

Yes, it's not KSing if you do it on accident. They're usually killing things that you're already killing, or at least TRYING to, which screws up your training because you get less EXP or no EXP at all if they kill everything before you attack it.
