To be honest, this is their life. They feel passionate about this, and they feel that their religion is telling them to do this. Even if we don't agree with thier motives, surely you can admit that atleast they believed that they were doing the right thing, and acted upon it?

Doesn't make them less of an idiot. ;)

That same excuse could be made for parents who murder their children in the belief that the kids are possessed by Satan. In short, it really doesn't fly with me because innocent people have died due to their actions.

Doing what you believe is right makes you an idiot?

Killing people makes you an idiot. Saying your religion tells you to when it does not makes you an idiot. Trying to justify you killing people makes you an idiot.

People believe all kinds of horrible things with a passion, Hitler believed passionately in killing jewish people, people who commit genocide believe passionately in what they are doing, paedophiles believe passionately that they can't help themselves yet don't ask to be locked up, many men around the world believe passionately they have the right to abuse their wives as their property.

Believing in something doesn't excuse anything.

And why is it so important to "admit" they believe in it? I don't think anyone doubts someone has to believe in what they are doing to blow themselves up. Whether or not they believe in it is neither here nor there, they are murderers, mass murderer at that and their "reasons" are false. It is not in their religion to kill people.

The fact that they wish to prove themselves with their beliefs doesn't justify the act.

People believe a lot of things and those things aren't always good.

I think you're taking my comment out of context. I was trying to post something that would express my frustration and disgust towards these people. My post was lame, yes, but it wasn't literal.

I also agree with those who have said believing in something doesn't make it right. If I believed that setting you on fire was the right thing to do, I highly doubt you'd agree.

Killing people is a disgusting thing to do, whether they believe in it or not.

Also, if these attacks are the results of Muslim extremisits (sp), they would not be seen as true Muslims by the Muslim Faith. Sadly these arseholes are to brainwashed/stupid too see this.

(Sorry if you see my post as a way at getting at you. It's not.)

Accepting the explanation of a religious "leader", and using that to justify an action which is forbidden by your religion (such as killing women and children, which is forbidden by the Quran and the Sunnah)... I'd say that makes you ignorant, not an idiot.

If you are willing to do something that is against your religion, in the name of your religion, then you are a fool.

And in the end, the ignorant fool is far worse than the idiot - the idiot cannot be blamed for his actions, for he lacks the capacity to know them. But the man who violates the tenets of his religion, without making the effort to realize that what he is doing is wrong shows a willingness to be led astray.

The idiot can be steered because he doesn't know any better. The ignorant can be steered because he doesn't care to learn. There's a difference.

For some reason this reminds me of a part of the Jack comic in the arc "Hell Is That Noise".

Todd, a soldier is killed and goes to hell. He believes in fate, and that fate is the reason he killed 132 children during the war. This is the ensuing conversation between himself and a fellow soldier, Cliff.

Todd: Given the choice without destiny, I wouldn't have killed those children --
Cliff: WAIT! ...You killed children?
Todd: Yes...but I didn't want to. Fate you see? I was under orders!
Cliff: A REAL SOLDIER KNOWS WHEN HIS ORDERS ARE FULL OF --!
Cliff: They called me and my friends babykillers! But it was YOU.

Im pretty sure Hitler believed he was doing the right thing too.

I can see what you are trying to say, but I'd just drop it if I was you, Matt. This isnt really the time or the place.

LONDON, England (CNN) -- Police in London are reported to have shot a man dead at a subway station, a day after bombers apparently failed to repeat the carnage of the July 7 blasts.

They also surrounded a mosque with armed police, but all the News programmes seemed not to have mentioned it for a while...

Apparently, we were "lucky that the bombs didn't go off." Explosives experts believe that they were using the same explosives as 7/7, but they decomposed in the good weather we've been having....

You've just pretty much called tonnes of people 'idiots', including the population of all the world armies, Moses, Jesus, Rama and others. I think you're being a tad childish throwing the word 'idiot' around like that. Plus, you are calling what paedophiles believe in horrible, which is incredibly discriminatory.

You're not saying "corrupting" children isn't horrible, are you?

Some things really are horrible, whichever way you look at them.
And they have to be called by what they are.

Nobody said we have to tolerate and like everything.
There's a limit.
