I, Lord Rhinestone Cowboy III, puppy-slap at you with my spear of ingenuity. Mischief and mayhem ensues.

Turai nodded, and looked at Iaran.
"Weird name. It sounds like a cross between Egyptian, Italian, Greek and Roman... is it a family name?"
She shook her head. "Sorry. Prying into your personal life when I barely know you. I'm Turai, by the way."
She extended a hand in greeting, and then retracted it as if burnt.
Imprinted on her skin was the still-damp ink of the rune Gebo.
Number 2: Gebo.
Partnership, A Gift.
"Alu," she whispered, and began to laugh.

"Nice to meet you Turai, and it's Egyptian actually. Maybe you'd like to come to my house? It's not far from here, and my parents can explain everything. Oh, and i'm kinda..." Iaran titled her head down slightly, "an Empath, and can kinda read minds if I want to...."
Sometimes this gift is a really big burden....
I hope they don't mind my empathic abilities
Tue Jun 29, 2004 8:30 am
"An empath... great."
Turai gave an evil grin, and deliberately changed her mood to pure rage for a minute.
"This is going to be great," she whispered.
She stepped a little closer to Iaran, and touched her lightly on the shoulder.
"Lead the way. No point staying out here... crowd's going to come soon... and you probably wouldn't be able to handle so many emotions at once."
Turai gave another switch to rage for a second, and smiled sadistically.
Tue Jun 29, 2004 8:50 am
Iaran felt a mild streak of rage coming from Turai and grinned at the girl's obvious deliberacy. She began walking down the path in the direction of her house.
"I can shield my mind from peoples' thoughts and emotions, unless they are really strong, so you can stop with the rage already."
Her long pink hair flowing behind her, Iaran quickened her pace and was soon only one road away from her house.

Turai glared at Iaran, then noticed the egg-shaped bubble, barely visible even after her aura training.
"Shields... neat. Wish I could make one."
She walked to the house, but couldn't help staring at the shield. She kept wondering what it'd look like if she shelled it and filled it with water.
Turai decided that she'd have to try it on Iaran someday.

Kaila looked around. Everyone seemed to be leaving, so she quickly picked up the book, and followed them, saying sorry to the boy once more.
She also hoped that they would know why the book seemed to open to the same page every time it fell. In fact, that was the only page so far she had seen.
"I'm Kaila." she said, as if it helped a lot.
Wed Jun 30, 2004 2:33 am
"Nice..." Turai nodded, and glanced briefly at Kalia.
She noticed a tiny school symbol on the corner... obviously stamped on.
It was a library book.
She wondered what a library was doing with such a book, then shook her head.
Turai suddenly felt a need to pick out a Rune, so she stopped and fumbled in her bag.
Suddenly, her hand jerked out, and she drew Ansuz.
3: Ansuz.
New beginnings, Signals.
First of the 13 cycle Runes.
"Alu indeed."
Wed Jun 30, 2004 3:55 am
Kaila looked at the Rune Turai had pulled out. "If you don't mind me asking, what's that? And what's that 'Alu' you keep on talking about?" She took a deep breath, as if wanting to say something more, then, shut her mouth. She started to blush. "Sorry. I didn't mean to pry. You don't have to answer if you don't want to."
Wed Jun 30, 2004 9:10 am
Iaran kept on walking until she reached her house, she entered the code for the door and walked up the drive indicating that her new friends should do so too.
Her mother greeted her at the door, "Iaran sweetie, have you had a good day? Oh, and who are these people?" Iaran kissed her mother on the cheek and smiled, "I think these others might be able to control the elements, I wanted you and father to check them."
Iaran's mother looked slightly surprised, then she stepped back and allowed the children in, "right this way then...."
Wed Jun 30, 2004 9:20 am
"It's... an oracle." Turai said. "Some guy named Rahza introduced me to them a while back... he gave me this set. Hand-crafted... don't know why though."
She smiled. "Oh well, Rahza always was an odd one. No time dwelling on what's been done."
With that, she turned on her heel and briskly walked to the house.
The mother looked oddly serious... unlike Turai's own.
Turai's mother was a complete embarassment to society, with flared dresses and hairstyles that had gone out of fashion before her mother was even born.
Turai took an instant liking to Iaran's mother.
Wed Jun 30, 2004 1:52 pm
Kaila nodded, as if she understood. Which, in truth, she did not understand a word of it. She looked over at Iaran's mother, and decided she looked strict, but she was probably only strict in stuff like house chores, almost like her mother. Oh, and jobs, of course.
Kaila glanced up. Storm clouds were gathering in the northwest, which she somehow knew.

Still peering out from behind her hiding place, Laruna saw the others talk for a while and then walk off. She followed curiously not far behind, and saw them walk to the driveway of a house not far down the road from her school. What were they doing? Should she go after them? After all, her parents lived quite a way away from here, and they would probably not have felt the earthquake. That meant that they thought she was still in school.
Laruna smiled inwardly, decision made, and walked after the others.
Fri Jul 02, 2004 12:40 pm
Iaran smiled and helped to lead the others into her father's study. Her mother asked that they be seated, and quietly went to fetch her father.
A few minutes later they both came back. And Iaran's father smiled at the children. "Okay then, Iaran's mother tells me that you may have some powers relating to the stones. Why don't you tell about what you know about the stones? And do any of you have any idea about what powers you may posess?"
Fri Jul 02, 2004 1:35 pm
"Umm... I know what their pictures look like and that's about it. I didn't get the chance to read the book yet." Kaila glanced up nervously. "What powers? I don't have any... I think..." She hated to dissapoint them, have their hopes up or whatever, and then dash them by not having any powers.
Fri Jul 02, 2004 4:25 pm
Seeing them enter the house, Laruna followed even more curiously. At the doorway she stopped and lingered, surprised that she was standing nearly inside a complete stranger's house, all because she was nosy and didn't have anything better to do. Her parents would certainly not be pleased.
Suddenly, the 'strange feeling' in her body started to wane, and, sure enough, when she looked up she could see rain clouds gathering in the sky. As she was thinking about this, she heard voices, and this time managed to catch what they were saying.
"...you may have some powers relating to the stones...why don't you tell about what you know about the stones? And do any of you have any idea about what powers you may posess?"
Laruna froze for a minute, and stared. She was still round the corner from where the voices where coming from, but suddenly she felt as if they could hear every movement she made. Did she really have a power?
