I'm definitely doing something wrong here. I'm trying to download fonts for sets, but when I download them they just appear as compressed folders on my desktop. I can't use them in photoshop. What am I doing wrong?

Did you put them into the fonts folder in the control pannel? You need to unzip the font and drag the file into that folder.

Okay. Let me try to make a bit of a walkthrough to installing fonts. :S

1.Save font from whatever site.
2. Unzip the compressed file using Winzip (availiable on download.com)
3. Go to your control panel (Start > Right Side (on XP, at least) there should be a bar labeled Control Panel.)
4. Go to the fonts folder there.
5. File > Install New Font. Find the folder with the unzipped font in it, and on top at the "list of fonts", it should show up. Double click it and it will install.

That should work.

I just extract fonts directly to the C:\Windows\Fonts folder and then open the folder to see that they all appear there. WinZip has that handy extraction tool.
