Lutari Island is a mysterious tropical island that floats around the oceans of Neopia, and is the home of the Lutari race.

It was accessible only through the Neopets Mobile application, and presently never on Neopets.com. Since Neopets Mobile was discontinued in 2009, there has yet to be any form of access to the island due to fierce storms plaguing the area.

As of 2014, there is still no way to access the island.

Attractions

There were several attractions the player could access on Lutari Island via the Mobile service:

Bog of Charity

Main article: Bog of Charity

This was a Lutari Island equivalent of the Meridell Rubbish Dump, with items being 'donated' by the islands various residents. One item could be taken per hour. The list of items available could be made to updated by changing one's active Neopet.

Briana's Quests

Main article: Briana

Resident Air Faerie, Briana, would sometimes give the player a Faerie Quest, offering feathers in return (Which could be used at the Lutari Island Training Academy to update your pet's stats).

Fluorescent Pools

Main article: Fluorescent Pools

These could heal the player's Neopet, like the Healing Springs. They did not give out potions.

Island Market

Main article: Island Market

This restocked primarily Lutari Island-exclusive items. Three items could be purchased from here per hour. Like the Bog of Charity, swapping active Neopets updated the list of items.

Island Gossip

A text-only New Features page.

Lutari Savings Bank

Main article: National Neopian

This branch of the National Neopian allowed the player to access their savings while on Neopets Mobile.

Survival Academy

Main article: Survival Academy

A training school, courses were paid for in feathers. Training only occurred while Neopets Mobile was connected - logging off would suspend training.

Wheel of Happiness

Main article: Wheel of Happiness

This wheel could be spun every thirty minutes, costing 100 Neopoints. Possible prizes were 250 NP, 500 NP, 10,000 NP, feathers, healing a Neopet, or making a Neopet more happy. Possible penalties were having some Neopoints stolen, having half of the user's on-hand Neopoints stolen, having an item stolen, or a Neopet getting ill or hurt.

Colour

Main article: Lutari (Colour)

The island was originally meant to be home to colour known only as 'Lutari'. While the exact appearance of the colour remains unknown, it is often speculated that the various Neopets appearing in Neopets Mobile an Lutari Island-related artwork represent this un released colour.

Though users cannot paint their pets with it, a associated Paint Brush was also released, though it remains unusable.

"Old" Island Version

Before it was released through Neopets Mobile, the island varied both in appearance and naming, all while differing very little from it's current form.

Infusio Island

Lutari Island under the storm.

In an unused map, released by The Neopets Team through their Facebook account and captioned "Lutari Island, before the storm", some of these activities were shown missing or renamed - the Island Market was "Shop", the Flourescent Pools were "Healing Springs", the Wheel of Happiness was "The Wheel of Luminescence", the Survival Academy was "Training School", the Lutari Savings Bank was "Bank", the Bog of Charity was "Bog of Chance", and Island Gossip and Briana's Quests were absent entirely.

In an issue of the Neopets Magazine containing an article about the Lutari species, it mentions that the Lutari race originate from a "drifting island" known as Infusio Island.[1] While it's entirely possible that Infusio Island could very well be a separate location, the mention of it's "drifting" seems indicate that it is in fact Lutari Island.

Climate

According to it's entry on the Neo_favicon.png Neopian Weather page, the island is shown to be mostly warm with occasional periods of humidity and rain.

On the world map, however, the island is shown to be experiencing an endless storm, driving both the island's inhabitants and wildlife away.

Species

The island, as it's name implies, is home to and the origin of the Lutari species. Several species of Petpet, such as Floobix and Weebly also originate from here. Several species of unknown Bird are also featured in various artwork.

Additionally, various artwork also reveals that Grarrl, Kacheek, Tonu, Grundo, Uni, Mynci, Blumaroo, Gelert, and Korbat inhabit the island. The island is also home to a single Faerie resident, Briana.

Future

The island has remained entirely in-accessible since 2009 after Neopets Mobile discontinued.

In the Neopian Times Editorial_icon.png Editorial #477, however, The Neopets Team said that though Lutari Island has remained unused for some quite time, they haven't forgotten about it. This was re-iterated in Editorial_icon.png Editorial #579 (26 January 2013), where The Neopets Team expressed their interest in making Lutari Island available again.

Trivia

Lutari Island is home to many brightly coloured Neopets.
  • An item named Lutari Paint Brush has been released, however as no Lutari colour has ever been made available it is still unusable. Various characters associated with Neopets Mobile have been drawn with bright face paint and feathered headdresses - this may be representative of the 'Lutari colour'.
  • Much like how Lutari Island's original name, Infusio Island was accidentally revealed in piece of Merchandise (The Neopets Magazine), Altador's original name, Talador, was also released by accident through merchandise (TCG)
