We just picked up some cool cookie cutters when we were out shopping the other day in the shape of a pumpkin, a black cat, and a ghost. <3 I'd love to make some Halloween cookies. I was wondering, does anyone know some good cookie recipes where the cookies will stay in shape after baking? I know sugar cookies do, but I'd like to make a variety of kinds. I was thinking peanut butter cookies might, too.

If you have any suggestions, feel free to post up! :) Thank you very much! ^.^

The only cookie recipe I have is for my signature garlic cookies. I don't think they can be cut into funny shapes though...

Try gingerbread. It takes longer than most cookies to get the dough ready, but they are oh so delicious... Okay, those might be the best idea too since they are more of a Christmas thing, but they are still yummy!

Molasses cookies often come in shapes, so I'm thinking they'd hold. Same with butter cookies. Maybe certain types of oatmeal? If you want to try something autumnal, you could probably try substituting pumpkin into a molasses cookie recipe and get a yummy result (substitute it for part of the butter/oil) -- I do something similar with apple sauce and/or mashed bananas in many cookie, cake, brownie, bread, etc. recipes.

Blue graffitied on my signature... But it made me laugh, so it's all good!

Pumpkin Cut-Out Cookies!
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pumpkin-Ro ... etail.aspx

Just read all the comments before using the recipe, if you do decide to use it. More than half they time users offer necessary suggestions for adjusting ingredients in the recipe.

Oh crap, now I want to make them. :D

You could also make rice crispy sqaures, flatten it out and use cookie cutters on that!

I use cookie cutters (and the family oven) for salt dough sculptures. They make great gifts and ornaments:

Ooh that would be a fun Halloween craft idea. Jas, your girls could make little Halloween ornaments to decorate the house with for Halloween!

Give me a day or so and I'll copy all the cookie recipes I got for the NaNoWriMo Cookbook this year. :)
