As promised in the editorial, we now have new shields!

Here's the 8-year one (since I have it):

Doesn't go up past 9 1/2, so far, I guess. Although, they sure made that one look rather old. :P

I always thought they were promising something new and exciting with shields, and that's why they've taken so long on this. Instead, they've done as little work as possible for something that takes minutes, at most. Copying and pasting images is easy.

o0o shiney mines 7 1/2 I'm sad that they turned to 1/2 years now :/

I think TNT said something like they had something better planned but it kept getting pushed back so at least they did SOMETHING instead of being stuck with the other shield forever.

They did.
I'm just happy to not have the Bringer Plushie with "6 years" on my lookup anymore! :)

I'm at 71 months, and I have a shield with asparagus on it -- I'm not sure how long I've had that one, since I hardly ever look at my own lookup. I guess I'll be getting the bringer plushie one on 10/11?

hmm, I didn't realize till now that my account there is 8 years old.

seems like they just pulled images out of a hat to stick on the shields lol

I have to agree  I love some of them (9 1/2 years and 8 years) but some of them don't seem to have a lot of thought put into them (as in I don't understand why they chose one image over another for that shield)

I like the trend of randomness of the images on shields, but I'm not happy with only getting a new one every 6 months. I mean really? Seriously, TNT artists? Eagerly awaiting the next batch (in 2016), which just consists of one shield with "who cares" written on it. Image

At least we did get new shields. I'm just sad that I'll have to wait about 4 more years until I get the 7 Years shield.

I agree that it's kind of sad that they've switched to only every 6 months. I honestly don't think that this could possibly be that hard given that: it's only one image a month, the background is the same for all the images and some of the art and all of the themes are re-used from other areas of the site.

It would be pretty easy to make, say, one shield for each Altador Cup cup team (that's 17 months right there) perhaps with the team captain of each. Alternately, each plot or site event could get a shield made as part of it so that the oldest neopian accounts would get that shield during the plot. They could even just start making pet-pet or petpetpet shields.

They could make a shield with ANYTHING. A Tatty Pencil, an Orange Fuzzle, a frightening Meepit... But every 6 months guys? Shields cant seriously be that arduous a task. Even making up for all the months that are missing wouldn't be that big a deal. I bet after 10 years, they'll only change each year. And then every 5 years.

They trick us with this! We should all be so glad to have the horrible Bringer Plushie gone that now if we complain, we are ungrateful and whiny.

What's the point of every 6 months? Is this just out of pure laziness?
Come on.

To play devil's advocate, a parent typically only uses months to refer to her child's age for the first 2, maybe 3 years. Then they switch to years (or half-years), because the difference in months isn't nearly as huge (both proportionally and developmentally). Honestly, given the kiddification of the site, most users probably wouldn't bother to do the math to realize "78 months = 6.5 years -- ooh, wow, they've been on the site forever"; instead, they're probably like "wow, 78, that's a lot of months, I wonder how many ... oooh, shiny! how many licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop? one, two, four,..."

Ha, if that's what they're doing then why is my Aisha still 49,805 hours old? :P
