I think the inability to play is partly caused by the new release of Premium Beta. Then again, there weren't many people in the Premium testing when I played last night.

Whew, it's nice to win this with a gold key after three days of either not being able to get into a game or not being able to finish a game.

A paintbrush would have been even better though ;)

Key quest seems to now be allowing you to choose a 2-4 key game in addition to the 5 key ones.

There aren't any games available under those categories though. However that may be because it's the middle of the night. (There are only 4, five key games available as well)

I'm creating a 2 key game at the moment, I have an intensely spotty record of being able to finish (or start) key quest games so I'll be interested to see what others find out about this.

*edit*
I was (unsurprisingly) unable to successfully start a game. So other peoples reports would be much appreciated.

2-4 key games do seem to be working. I haven't played one myself, but when I was on last night (oh, internet, I <3 thee), there were several in the general chat room.

They've added at least two more minigames as well (for all uses, not just premium) - the Zomutt one and the Faellie one. Faellie one isn't too hard once you learn how to break the barriers, but the Zomutt one seems kinda buggy - either that or I haven't figured out how scoring works on it yet.

I will try to get a stats update ready Sunday night, so if you have any key results, send 'em to me before then. :)

The version up now is the Key Quest Edge version that Premium were testing out.

Premium testing has finished and we have this lovely message in our Portal:

Quote:
KEY QUEST SUPER SECRET BETA TESTING FACILITY

Thanks for visiting the super secret Key Quest beta testing facility. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but we have enough victims assistants currently to complete our evil scheme analysis. Don't worry; no harm will come to them. Really.

Access to the new beta test is therefore restricted until further notice. Please spin around three times, do all of your homework, and play outside for the rest of the day. Results may include superior career opportunities and increased levels of vitamin D.*

*Results not guaranteed.

- The Neopets Team

As a sidenote: This version was available for everyone a few weeks ago but only last a couple of days and was taken down.

I hope this isn't the final version. I don't like the different font styles (looks cheap and tacky) and I don't like how they have switched the coloured keys around, when you get to choose one (from minigames or the X spot).

I still can't get any score on petpetpet looping game. The faellie maze is too jerky and unresponsive on my computer and the zomutt minigame seems very 1 sided, one player has all the gems and the other player doesn't.

I often miss my turn after a minigame because of lag - I get timed out. The powerups don't always work and I often don't get the choice of using one, instead only the dice shows up.

A lot more work is needed.

Oh how heartily I agree.
It's not just the technical problems (oh lag how i hate thee) (and unresponsive mini-games) (and getting kicked out)
There are some design things that arn't well thought through. For example it gives you the choice of use a card or roll, but then if you select roll you also have to roll the dice again. There's not a choice involved there you just click the button. Selecting roll the first time should simply roll the dice for you instead of inserting another 5 second wait (or more with lag) for all the other players.
I have a similar opinion about having to wait for a a fourth player select a house when they only have one choice. Just give them the house and save me the 15 seconds. (or again more with lag)

I also just have to say that if we're going to be restricted to drop down menus for discussion (which is fine, i dont' really want to here what people have to say anyway and i want accounts under 13 to be able to play) than there need to be some options that discuss the fact the game is not working properly.

May I recommend.
"My latency is really bad"
"Darn I couldn't participate in that mini game"
"I'm still here but the game skipped my turn"

Edit:
wow i sound so grumpy -- i feel like i should be telling people to get off my lawn
Or, you know, go take some UI classes, whichever.

:P Agreed. I get some hope from the fact that the last time I created a game (a day or two ago), one of the options was a "chat" option with only one choice (scripted chat), which leads me to believe that they are indeed going to add real chat eventually like they did with 1-4 key games.

:roflol: I could use some of those. Especially when things went downhill a couple days ago and started really screwing up before pretty much going down.

Okay, life has gotten in the way of updates, but I will post them tonight at around 9:30 PM NST. At present, I have 400 recorded Gold keys, 133 Silver, 9 Bronze, and 1 Lead, for a total of 543 recorded keys.
---------
ETA: 11:31PM

**Please note: All of these statistics, etc, are based only on the data I have collected to this point, and may or may not be completely accurate. You'll notice I'm still lacking in the Bronze/Lead key areas. :P

Overall Results

Top three most likely prizes:
1. Kiko Pop-Up Book
2. Orange Grundo Chair
3. Shiny Purple Cowry Shell

Top 3 most likely Gold prizes:
1. Orange Grundo Chair
2. Kiko Pop-Up Book
3. Maraqua Coloring Book

Top 3 most likely Silver prizes:
1. Book of Origami Paper
2. Cloudy Sky Background
3. Courgette Field Background

Top 2 most likely Bronze prizes:
1. Scratchcard Secrets
2. Roast Gargapple Stamp

According to my husband (who is getting his PhD in Statistics), my graphs were not best way of displaying the data (mainly due to the lack of data for some of the keys). They now show the percentage of each item received by key. For example, the chart for codestones shows the percentage of each type of codestone received (without regards to other types of items). Basically, it scales down the graphs so that you can still see the non-gold key stats.

By Category:
Codestones
Neggs
Books
Collectibles
Wearables
Furniture

Raw numbers:
Probabilities
Probabilities within Categories
Raw Data

I'm still collecting data, so if you would like to help out, PM me your winnings by key. :)

I've played Key Quest a couple times. Been lucky and got some gold keys (mostly in the 1v1 game). The ONLY minigame I've been able to win at most of the time has been the Nova grab one. Spyder's I do okay, but havn't won yet. Loop game = EBIL! The rest I don't think I've tried yet. I try and go out of my way to avoid the Mini Games most the time.

A new version is being trialled in Premium....

...and WOW!!

There are more powerups, more mini-games and more boards - here you can decide what type of game you want to play. There are many varieties, such as all minigames, no minigames and special powerups.

It is hard to keep up with all the powerups.

One of the better changes is the option to quit out of a powerup if you change your mind. If you chose a powerup, but then decide against it, there is a X on the P.U card, just click it and you can roll the dice instead.

New powerups:
Image
Mortog: jump to same space as another player and move one space ahead.

Image
VirtuDice: automatic 6 space roll.

Image
Tornado Ring: swaps chosen player's powerups for random ones.

Distraction Potion: swap a key with another player.

Image
Boots of Flight: 2 rolls instead of 1.

Image
Giant Lint Ball: chosen player cannot play power up for 1 turn.

Image
Rainbow Fountain Water: change the color of one of another player's keys.

Image
Spare Key Ring: steals all of another player's extra keys.

SUPER POWERUPS:
ImageImage

Game Boards:
Image
All Game Boards:

This board is from the Mystery Character board:

In this game, you get Character powerup squares (as well as normal pu's), that are instant (or next go) and do NOT go into your hand.

Each board gives you a different style of play:
Image

ALIGNMENT
gives you Fire, Water, Air, Earth squares, which when landed on give you a HEX powerup, which are used immediately or next turn and do not go in your hand.
Image
ImageImage
ImageImage

CHARM
gives you Charm squares, pass over these and you can accept different charms.
Image
Image
ImageImage
ImageImage

When a person is protected with a charm, you cannot use the powerups:
Image

DIGGING
Same as Fruit Picker board, except all games are the Daring Dig mini-game.

FIRE
gives you Fire squares - you get charms and powerups.
Image

FRUIT PICKER
gives you ALL minigames squares and ONLY the fruit picker game. Both of us gave up on this game. It was going to be a long, hard game.

Image
Image

GARDENGROWER
same as fruit picker/digging boards, but with a new mini-game called Neogarden Grow.
Image

HAUNTEDWORLD
A miniboard all for the Haunted House. A nice surprise to have a different maze.
Image
Image

HOPSCOTCH
same as Digging/Fruit Picker/Gardengrower boards, but with a new minigame called Flower Frenzy.
Image

LASSO
same as Digging/Fruit Picker/Gardengrower boards, but with the Petpet Snare game.

MAZE
same as Digging/Fruit Picker/Gardengrower boards, but with the Faellie Labyrinth game.

MEMORY WITH FP
seems to be exactly the same as the standard board (I will need to double-check).

MEMORY WITH LASSO
seems to be exactly the same as the standard board (I will need to double-check).

NEOPIA CENTRAL
standard board

NF TEST BOARD
as the name suggests, it is a board with all the new powerups, character, hex, charm cards and the different squares for you to test out.
Image

NO MINIGAMES
as the name says, there are no mini-games on this board. The squares are all powerups or nps.
Image

PETPET WASH
same as Digging/Fruit Picker/Gardengrower/Lasso boards, but with a new minigame called Petpet Pamper.
Image

POOGLE RACING
same as Digging/Fruit Picker/Gardengrower/Lasso boards, but with a new minigame called Carnival Racing
Image

The only new mini-game I have been able to play is the Fruit Picker game, all the others will not open.

hey does anyone know why you would play a 4 or 3 player game instead of a 2 player. are the prizes better because 2 players are much faster?
