Don't know if this has been posted yet, but if you go to premium.neopets.com you can download the free Neopets Toolbar.

You can also pay for Neopets Premium. I'm not sure what I think about this new feature - all I know is that I'm definitely not paying for it.

Hasn't it been available to the public?

You mean they're making a portion of the site that you have to PAY for? That's going too far. This site is supposed to be free for everyone!

Grrr, stupid! Why do you have to pay! My Mom HATES Neopets so she won't buy it and 35$ a month is quite expensive for a Virtual Thing. I don't collect avatars much and 10k a YEAR :o Maybe a month but a year!?
EDIT:I think you just Pay for the premium thing

My dad would pay for Premium. It's just the question of whether it's worth it. From what I can tell, it doesn't really seem so.

If it becomes like that, then I really will quit. I don't mind the ads, I don't mind the sponsor games, the merchandising, or the other ways Neopets makes profit from the site. But I will never pay a single cent to play this game.

They had better change that.

Well, welcome to the new internet era. I had the feelings Nweopets would do this sooner or later.

Look at the sites of magazines, newspapers, everyone who develops contend to Internet: nothing is completelly free no more. As the trust and security of eletronic money transference grows, as more people got used to pay for Internet contend, the more things like this will happen.

And, let's face it, Neopets is one of the most visited sites in the world. It's too much of a temptation not to offer a close and paid area.

Remember - and that goes just to the older folks - we had just four or five TV channels but never dreamed on pay to watch'em?
Things change, and fast.
But they will have to offer a extremelly good service to justify such price range. Most respectable sites - including the leading magazines and newspapers of the world - have no courage to charge that much. I am not aware of online comunities, like everquest, can someone check how much they charge for a much visually richer ambiente?

Neopets will have a closer, member-only part. It's unavoidable. It's economy. But it didn't need to be such a steepy fee. Let's just hope this helps to improve the services of the whole site.

I am not optimistic, however.

i think youve all got the wrong end of the stick. It sounds like theyre starting an ISP thing and providing internet service like AOL or freeserve and the like. So i dont think we have to worry :)

neopets will still be free but if you want your internet service provided by neopets you have to pay them. Its just a way for them to make money without having to charge you to play.

I had the trial for the webmail....
It was pretty stupid... But they did give my about 2k, and some sort of email that was a 'random event' for a codestone.

Now it says my account was suspended because I didn't pay...

I don't mind it at all really. Its basically paying for features you could have for free, but more convenient and organized and a bit more professional looking as far as looks are concerned. As long as neopets in general is free, I don't see it as a problem. Just don't buy it if you don't like it. You're not missing anything.

I don't really get the whole Neopets Premium Dial-Up Service though. What's this "neopoints, avatars, special items, and much more!" They're talking about? Are they giving out new stuff for free to the people who use it?

I dont know if its just me but when i try and go to it, i just get redirected to the neopets login page???? Tried many different ways of getting there including via search engines?!! Obviously they are rather picky about who they want as customers!lol
