I was just now wondering about this. Is it at all possible to rearrange the order of your pets or control it to some degree? This might sound a tad freaky, but when I finally have the 4 Plushie pets I want, I'd like to be able to control in what order they're standing to optimize compatibility of colors. Anyone got a clue?

The only way to arrange the pets the way you want would be if you had them named in alphabetical order... That's how they're arranged on your lookup, and other than determining your order before you ever created your pets, there's no way to change the order of them.

Thanks May, I never noticed that before. Well, now I know I have to watch out what to name any labrats I may have in the future (when I find the other 6 pieces of the map on the floor :P ).

Heh. I always thought it was in the order in which you added them to your account -- the newest one goes to the front -- but I just realized that I added them in reverse alphabetical order (including the 2 lab pets I've adopted), so they both hold true for me. Good to know if I ever get a permanent pet in the fourth place.

Also: is there a way to 'erase' a pet? As in, permanently banish it so the name it was used can be re-used? Also also: didn't there used to exist an item (now so expensive I will never get a hold of it, and if so, definitely never use it for it's intended goal) that allowed your pet to change name?

I don't think such an item ever existed?

Don't know about the item, but now that old accounts are being wiped, those pet names have been made available as new names again. So you could never permanently get rid of a name, because someone else could use it. I guess you could paint the pet invisible and put it on a side account that you never touched, but the pet would still technically exist... If it's such a horrible name no one else would ever use it, I guess you could transfer it to an account that you would then leave inactive for years until TNT made it go poof.

Mmm... I'm sure I've heard of it, yet I can't seem to find it, even in JellyNeo's database. I've sent them a question about it.

PS: love their checking whether you're a spambot:

It's not about changing bad names - it's about changing names to make them 'fit' alphabetically.

Sorry, I misread that. You'd have to leave the account dormant (for probably 2+ years) and continuously check to see when it goes poof so you can snag the name again before someone else does... if it's a good name, you might not be able to. And then you'd have to create a new pet with that name, so you'd still need to paint it/zap it to how you like... so I don't know what you'd be accomplishing with all of that. (Wow, this is an unhelpful post, huh?)

To my knowledge, there's never been an item that allows you to change your pet's name. If Neopets ever were to release such an item in the future, I'm 99% positive that the item would be available through the cash shop only.

Ah well, guess I'll just have to watch my names and leave plenty of alphabetical space between the two pets I want to place my lab pet in between. Should be manageable enough.
Yes Siniri, yes it was - but thanks for the effort anyways.

Supposedly, TNT is planning to reward old accounts for their loyalty. Don't know if it'll ever happen, but it doesn't hurt to suggest this as an option. (I'd love to change my Neopets account name more so than my pets' names, personally -- I wish you could do a 1-time change once your account was 5+ years old.)

TNT said they were going to reward older accounts in Editorial 189. It's been years since then and all TNT has done is give us a special shop and force us to pay real money for stuff.

Please ignore the following images as much as you like. They are meant to show me how my ideal four pets (the Quiggle, MSPP, and Krawk are all definite choices, the Skeith not so much) would look lined up next to each other. As your pets are automatically ordered alphabetically, I need to know what to name them beforehand. Notes: While the Skeith is not a definite choice, his colours - blue/green/... definitely are. I need a Plushie pet with 'cold' colors, seeing how my definite choices are red, orange, and yellow. Other plushie pets taken into consideration were the Hissi, the Mynci, and the Tonu. But for now, the Skeith struck me as best.
If you should feel up to the task of ranking this organized madness into what you think is looking best next to one another, please do so! It would be much appreciated! If you don't, well... I can't say I blame ya!
